The positive 2.2 thread

May as well post all of thoughts on 2.2 here whilst i'm at it.

I think its a great update. Graphics are better. Stations are better. More variety. SLF's are a good small addition. Not the main part of the update for me. But I'm enjoying my new relationship with my Pilot friend. He helps out fighting pirates who interdict us. He hovers about whilst I do mining.

The new HUD displays are a bit all over the place, and I agree with other posts about them. Where all that information should be etc. New galaxy map is good. Module transfer is excellent. I swapped over two C2 engineered pulse lasers for mining lasers prior to my mining stint. When finished I couldnt remember where I stored them (my mistake) and had a wobble when they didnt display on the galmap like a stored ship does. But no panic, as soon as I docked in whatever system the precious pulses were there, from wherever I left them, and transfered instantly and for free. Bonus!

NO passenger missions yet as I'm bust engineering. But will try one when I can. Maybe if they offer the material or data im looking for at the time.

In all I enjoying this update. Just need the Python ship kit now to be fully in bliss.

I can say that these passenger missions bring a ray of light. To immerse oneself in perfoming positive acts such as transporting aid workers, refugees (but why is this considered a VIOLENT act?) and tourists that very likely (at least the ones i take) deserve a holiday reset and arrive there safely. a +++ on this FD

Its early but i sense that interdictors are no longer defaulting to our rank as ive seen a few much lower than elite try thier luck...and yes to me this is very good ...and so a +++ on this too FD............if and only if this is indeed the case.

I'm tired of posting the negatives about 2.2, so here goes:
I like the new station interiors. The new stuff inside is cool.
I like having a new station interface design (although I can't say it's "better").
I'm glad for those who want to fly passengers.
I really like the idea of recalling a programmed route from the last time you were logged in.
That's about it.

I have to say, I had a really great time today in the game.

I spent some time looking for geysers and had fun exploring a deep canyon and checking out some crystal formations and trying to wash my SRV in the geyser's water flow.

I wandered into an Anarchy system that was in Civil War and lucked into a few skimmer destruction missions that paid quite well.

I futzed around looking for other Anarchy systems in Civil War to see if it was a fluke and now I have a short list of them to check out tomorrow. I really found the new Hyperspace sequence to be a big improvement...travel is much more fluid now that the star is lined up for you.

I fended off a bounty hunter who came after me for my huge 6000cr bounty I racked up the other day by being careless :)

I repainted my Python white, just because.

I made a few million credits, saw some great sights, and just generally enjoyed my time in space.

I'm quite pleased with 2.2, personally.

It looks absolutely staggering in the Rift. Mind-blowingly heartbreakingly beautiful.
Really not helping my progress as I keep stopping just to look at stuff.

just had a first shot of 2.2 and.. i think i can be pretty positive

first thing is the stations interiors, some really nice detail and good eye candy. spawned in an agri-station and had a very slow undock admiring all the gro-pods. I'm sure its just hemp for making textiles ;) in some ways a very superficial change but very striking.

the fighters: i bought a keelback, kitted it out with the imperial fighter, hired some noob called 'melenie bond' and headed out. gave it a good canyon run then headed for a highRES. Man those fighters are fun. I was worried that the keelback might be cannon fodder but i got on fine keeping the mothership back and engaging in the fighter (if you stay on the ball theres very little can actually hit you) and calling her back in when the cops showed up. Could be a cheap and viable way for the low budget trader to turn the tables on some of those pesky interdictions. Pretty pleased with the whole fighter/npc crew thing then :D

I checked out the detailed surface maps and tried to use them to locate a tasty mountain or 2. It works great when theres Nav Beacons ;) i'll have to head to an unexplored system and see how i get on there.

didn't find a 100Km high geyser :( or space flowers, or alien ruins, or thargoids.

Hello,
I'm really liking some of the QOL improvements. Displaying the state of the system you are jumping to (ok, the star class can be better represented but at least it's there) and so far the best for me, remembering my plotted route even after I log off.
Currently wondering around Sag A* trying to get to Colonia and I was so pleasantly surprised when I went back to plot my route to my next waypoint, after logging off for dinner, the Gal map instantly plotted my course when I opened it up after logging in. :) So, so happy.

Just on my 2nd day of 2.2 and wanted to add to the positivity here and say it's looking BRILLIANT. Spent my first day just putting my pre-2.2 affairs in order (doing a grand tour of the engineers to use up the mat's I'd gained from Fed ranking missions at Lebedev), taking in the new hyperspace jump animation (fantastic), learning my way around the new starport interface (very nice), visiting a few tourist beacons around SOL and marveling at the new planet surface textures (just when i think they can't get better, they get better). Day two has been spent purchasing an Orca and experimenting with passenger and tourist missions ... and marvelling at some of the new station interiors.

All just brilliant!
