The Powers are closing in!

I've been making my main base of operations in a quiet corner of the Empire that has easy access to unincorporated space and enjoys being about 150 ly from Achenar. Quiet country life as I see it.

Now I've got Patreus and Torval just a couple systems away from my retreat.

Personally, I find the powers detestable, ego maniacal and subversive to the Emperor's glory (stinkin city folk). Come any closer and I will be undermining for the sole purpose of keeping them off my lawn!

You're about to become part of Lavigny's territory. She's Prepping a system that would encompass HIP 16858 into her territory.

My problem is that I can't undermine any efforts to prepare my "home" system without pledging to a power.

Need to rustle up the rabblerousers, get the pitch forks, and have ourselves a bonfire rally. Fortunately in HIP 16858, we still have 250k LS of buffer...

This poses an interesting question. One can only take part in undermining if they're pledged to a power. What if you want your system to stay neutral? Undermining usually consists of blowing up faction ships, could there be a way to do that and make it count without pledging? or is the way to play this scenario to sign up with an opposing faction, undermine, and then leave (not defect), ie "The enemy of my enemy is my friend (for now)"

No, probably not. The game dynamics mean we are forced to stop expansion now and instead pick up systems that intentionally cost us CC.

We cannot stop grinders and lone wolfs from Prepping, but the required follow through (Expansion) is more work than Prepping and therefore probably won't happen.

Really ? Thats your answer ? Guy just called Princess Arissa a waste of space. He should be hunted down not given advice.

I know that, my Home Base was/still is outside of any Power influence, but Li Yong-Rui is coming closer. Oh well, it could be worse, being a trader he does not look that bad to me.

True. We're working on that problem and promoting a new policy of slow and steady expansion. But we would like Caria. And since you have the OCI running amok in Cockaigne... You wouldn't want a mess like He Xingo again, would you? :p

Seriously, I trust ALD far more than Hudson or Winters. I grew up in LHS 3447. All the Feds ever did was increase taxes and provide a few under rated Vipers. My trader friends still died. Our taxes went to the "home worlds". Remember what they did to the OnionHead farmers.

The Empire accepts most everyone. ALD's position is very clear. She is for security, while the Empire overall stands for Allegiance and Honor. The Empire gave me a sense of purpose.

See, I told y'all the Powers folks are vile, ego-maniacal cancers. Nothing good will come of their expansion efforts.

All these brave commanders pledging their lives to idols when the only true leader is Emperor Duval himself, bask in his greatness. I tell ya, a reckoning is coming!
