For everyone who sees something in-game or in a newsletter or on the forums or anywhere else and thinks "What? I didn't get the memo... What happened?"

First question: I've been away for a while, but last time I was at Shinrarta Dezhra, the controlling faction at Jameson Memorial was the Pilot's Federation (I was allied), but now they're nowhere to be seen. What happened and when?

I mean, I only did PP long enough to get my packhounds, and I've been either grinding or out in the Black since then, but I would have thought I'd have seen that on some screen or other in-game... Are you yanking my Thargoid? [alien]

There are still the same "11" powers listed in PowerPlay that there has always been.

How could this change have happened without them being listed in the PP menu?

(Yanking of chain theory confirmed) ;)

They're some sort of major faction - they are in control of various stations like a minor-faction though.

FD reclassified The Pilot's Federation as a Superpower; at the level of Fed, Empire, Alliance....and now PF. Forgot the rationale details, but for the betterment of the game....

On the crashed Jameson Cobra, a quick YouTube search probably gets you a good summary and speculation. Haven't gone to the tourist site yet, but will one day.

It is now stored in a very big warehouse, inside a wooden crate. It is of course being studied by experts, top people in their field; top people.

Rumour is that particular interest has been taken in, how they managed to fit and rear facing camera and weapon system; during those dark fledging days of space combat.

Ok, not really a Power. A Superpower, or "Major Faction" if you prefer. But not really any of those things, because they have no territory. They are an omniscient, omnipotent, invisible godlike force with jurisdiction over the entire galaxy. But this was just a kludge so that there could be such a thing as "pilot Federation bounties" (issued for killing CMDRs, awarded for killing Thargoids, and nothing else), which can be issued, acquired, and redeemed at any station anywhere.

With a Crime and Punishment rework on the way, hopefully they'll revert the PF back to its original role. Thargoid bounties should probably be issued by Aegis, not the Pilot's Federation.
