The qurious case of EZ Aquarii's missing star

EZ Aquarii C

Like many before me I made my home at a planet near Sol with a beautifull triple star system named EZ Aquarii.
The reason I choose this star beeing the name of the station. "Magnus gateway". The great portal.
Although it circles the B star of the triplet it's a mere 519 Ls out from entry at the A star. And it is a suitable base.
I meet many CMDR's here so it's a popular place to visit.

As I was wondering about the name of the star I looked it up in the star catalogues. It's offcourse a member of Aquarius.
The waterman who flooded the nile or the ancient god Enki. It is described as a triple star system. So there should be a third star.
And the great thing is A and C circle each other at a miniscule distance of only 0,03 AU. Now there would be a sight to see!!
All of the three stars are red dwarfs as they are in elite.

Except the third star isnt there. it really it isnt. I looked everywere!!

So where did it go? What is the story about this missing companion star that would have as good as touched its neigbour?
Will it ever come back?

It's not the only "missing star" in ED. Perhaps the most famous examples are Algol, where the large near-contact binary with the orbital period of 2.86 days is missing, and Beta Lyrae, the "contact binary" system famous from the prequel games which in ED is a mundane solitary star system.

As for the second part of your question: no, it can't come back. It takes considerable effort for FD to edit a star system; it's not something they're likely to do simply to "correct a mistake" like a missing star.

2.86 days. Another spectroscopic binary missing. Maybe that is a clue. Maybe the proximity of the stars stretches virtual mechanics somehow.

I was not expecting anyone to fix anything, I was merely admiring the beauty of this elite universe with all its incredible detail and subtle cohesion on such a massive scale in a wabi sabi way. And remember I call this star system my home. I have visited it hundreds of times before I spotted the beautymark of the system.

It's a disturbing thought though. You take something out, what are the consequences. The entire field changes, distances, orbits, mass, time. physics.
With missing stars something must give way.

Did you guys fill out support tickes or just post about it? I dont think they check here for what needs fixed

I dont think they check support tickets either anymore though tbh

Congratulations to the OP for actually stopping to consider the actuality of his in-game home star, taking the time to look it up, and them to post about it. Dunno about you, but I find it too easy to get caught up in the game and forget its fantastic roots.
