The rarity of High Grade Emissions is insane, and am I doing this right?

I just pickup what I find and trade for what I actually need, you will go crazy if you keep trying to beat the RNG!!!!
I find this to be far preferable than specifically hunting down the mats as they float around in space. Each to their own, of course, but for me the hunt/grind spells madness. The rarest mats can be awkward because they require so much lower quality stuff to trade, but you can always do some missions to top up, and then trade your gains.

Sorry, but I don't think there's a problem.

Hm, as usual I found plenty of HGEs in random flyover Systems enroute. Need to visit the Mat Trader again.

It's the usual thing though : I currently don't need anything. Then they're a dime a dozen.
The Moment I need something and make a dedicated HGE Tour? Rare good, almost nowhere to be seen.

Signal Sources regenerate every so often, so simply waiting a bit will churn up a new batch. At least that’s how it was some 31 weeks ago. Jumping in and out of a system does not trigger a new spawn of signal sources, as they’re persistent until their interval is up.

I fell alseep last night trying to get them. Didn't get one, and almost ran out of fuel in SC due to falling alseep, (kind of funny acually.) But yeah, this spawn rate is ridiculous. I should have at least gotten ONE>

Improvised Components, controlling faction in civil unrest or civil war, I can't remember which.

The best way is to scan the NAV and be on you way, the FSS is way too clunky to cover different systems quickly.

You can just scoop up all the HI mats you find and just bite the bullet on the exchange rates.

IMHO Improvised Component and Phara Isolators are just not worth looking for. Find a small group of Federal or Imperial systems in Boom, drop in, scan the Nav Beacon (faster the FSS for me) and look for HGE. Then move to the next system. You'll get loads of Core Dynamics Composites or Imperial Shielding, as well as some Military Grade Alloys and Proto Heat Radiators.

Trade for the other stuff.

Just what works for me.

This.

If you're looking for a mat' to apply mod's to, for example, weapons then you might have half a dozen weapons on a ship that all require the same mod', which means you need a big heap of that G5 mat - which, in turn, means you'd need a GIANT heap of some other G5 mat' to trade.

IC's are (AFAIK) only used to create reinforced shields, which means you only need one G5 mod' per ship, which means collecting a single pile of some other G5 mat' can be traded for enough ICs to get the job done.
