Are we going to start an upgrown de here about why

some must leave this Earth to find another place to live?
We must start loking for another crib before this overflows. We are 7 billion or 7 milliard depending on who are speaking. Some get children by the old and proven f*** metode, some by assisted, some grow their baby in another woman. To get babys is a strong force, without that force we as humankind would have been dead a long time ago. So you all understand, underneath this is a lot of things to think about why we must spread out, or who shall deside further on, you can have a baby, you not, by 10 billion, 20 billion... xx billions/milliards?

I think the first item on the agenda is asteroid watch for Earth. So satellites, for telescopes maybe uber-radar and also asteroid diverting technologies.

Later I think we will get into living in space in very big city ships which rotate to produce pseudo gravity and have large gardens inside them. I dont think there will initially be war machines as on Earth. We are entering a new age where territoriality based on race identity will no longer make sense and super organisations like the UN will keep the peace. This may change things. The city ships will carry powerful micrometeor defence systems, laser and projectile. These big city ships will eventually cross the interstellar void travelling at a maximum of 1/10th the speed of light.

If there are ever any space weapons not intended for asteroid defence they would IMHO be essentially mobile weapons eg complex missiles, drones and one shot nuclear super lasers, for defending the city ships and attacking enemy installations or weaponry. Territorial disputes would tend to be settled on the territory itself ie planetoids and city destruction would be a very very rare event.

I dont doubt there will be discoveries but for now I dont believe FTL travel will be one of them. Though I think fusion and antimatter energy production are possible. There may just be principles which would allow FTL communications, unsure at present time. I would like to design a space 4x which works on these more realistic principles but it would need a very different sense of time to the current games in which impatience combined with science fantasy are allowed to dictate unrealistically fast paced modes of travel, though these are for fun and I like to play them I dont see why a closer agreement with what we currently consider reality cannot be fun too.

It's all been rather disappointing since the Moon landing, hasn't it? That was back in 1969 and since then, what have we done regarding exploration - nothing apart from sending out a few probes and things?

Well, one thing's for sure: if Humanity is still around to see it, in five billion years when the Sun swells into a Red Giant, there might be people thinking 'why didn't someone do something before? Why are we still here?' Then it'll be too late.
