And they all fly with flight assist off, silent running ambushes are a common tactic.
A common enemy would be really cool, give all the commanders of every faction and occupation a reason to work together
You've made the Docking computer crying, implying it isn't IntelligentThere is no AI in Elite Dangerous. Even auto-pilot was banned since the times of Frontier![]()
Indeed, considering that the "docking computer" takes up a whole module slot from the ship, the same slot that could alternately hold many TONS of cargo, it must be some steampunk device. Really ridiculous, since even with our present-day tech such a docking automation would only be a small part of software in the normal ship computer.docking computer is a remarkable bit of vacuum tube and analog clockwork, working with gyroscopes and directional radio beams. B-17's in world war 2 had a similar tech. but its not AI, nor even a computer as w would know it.
i love the anachronistic theme of elite; force fields and hyperdrive, yet 1980 computers and 1960 NASA radios.

You missed the point completely, but yes, manual docking is no problem in this game (well, haven't tried with the Type 9 or other biggest ships...)Easier to learn to dock and not waste the slot in the first place.
As big as the docking computers are, there would be room for a large supercomputer's worth of AI, and so it would be capable of plotting far more dastardly plans than thatRise of the Docking Computers. In this paid major expansion for Elite: Dangerous, docking computer AI assault the three major factions in an effort to dominate the galaxy by installing themselves onto ships and crashing them into starports.
Thargoids.A primary antagonist sounds good.
