The reason why I have played less Elite is.. all the waiting all the time

that I have gotten tired of all the waiting and monotomeus sequences in the game.

Waiting in starport turning on landing pad and decsending in garage. Why cant we access station menu while this sequence is running?
Waiting to get up to Surface again. Waiting for blast wall to be lowered.
Waiting to get out of mass lock till SS
Waiting 4 sec or more to enter SS and HS
Waiting in HS to load instance. By this I mean the hyper space sleepy movie sequence
Arriving at Star, waiting to turn ship around to avoid melting.
Waiting at SS exit to load Starport, nav Point etc
Waiting in SS travelling to reach dest. This can be huge waiting. Also the slow station approach is a prolonged torture
Waiting for scans to finish...
Edit: Add also waiting at nav Points for wanted to show up. Worse now than in pre-1.1

There is far too much waiting and dead time. This shouls be slimlined more.
Imaging pressing HS and 2 sec later you are in a new system NOT facing the bloody star.

And lets not talk about all the waiting in missions USS...oh my.

You can, though... I do that plenty.

The rest of those, yeah, there's stuff to wait on. Doesn't bother me as much, but I gravitate to games with built-in downtime.

You forgot all the waiting around at Nav Beacons/extraction sites for new (and wanted) NPCs to spawn. Around 40% of my game time I reckon.

Yep I vote for teleportation to station hanger from station hangers...to heck with all this flying malarkey
Buy commodity-teleport-sell commodity-buy commodity-teleport.....who needs gameplay it suxor

Not what I mean. There must be ways to slim line the game. You are very exagerating :)

Don't forget the instagib gambled lazor's pew pew.

Hunting down a target for a mission you say? BAH, new instant win missions are now available. just accept the mission and turn it back in again. WIN WIN

The waiting is another reasn trading is still tje number one profession by a huge margin. Once you get a route the income is steady and the typical stations sequences as well as SC/HS are just part of it... Where as in every other profession its more of an unnavoidable obstacle.

Not exactly. I mean, he is exaggerating, but the fact is part of what many of us enjoy is the verisimilitude - suspending your disbelief to enjoy something as if it's real. And many of the scenes you describe are part of that. None of them are a long wait when you think about it. In fact, many of them are scaled down greatly from what it COULD be (or more realistically would be). There's a balance to be struck, and while you don't think it's been achieve, I do. Any shorter and the "gaminess" shows. Any longer and it would indeed get tedious.

Probably I am yes, but the game is the game, what is proposed is removing everything that involves gameplay and some instances knowledge of how to actually pilot the ship. Also this was discussed to death all through beta, gamma and release...Some of it would possibly require the game to close and be rewritten as it revolves around the instancing and netcode

You can just hit 'hanger' then 'services' instant access so no problem there

Waiting to get up to Surface again. Waiting for blast wall to be lowered
part of the game that adds immersion for many, maybe teleport outside?

Waiting to get out of mass lock till SS
Keep away from planets and stars then no mass lock except at jump in points

Jump out and enter a new USS it is quicker in the long run

Arriving at Star, waiting to turn ship around to avoid melting.
Kill thrust during jump animation and pitch up on exit, it is an advantage jumping in at a star if you need to scoop refuel

Much of this will never change so you have a choice accept it or move on

There was an interesting statistic posted by FDev the other day.

In essence: even on a busy day the population of this forum is less than 1% of the user base.

On an ordinary day, it's massively less than 1%.

Draw your own conclusions.

I agree. Maybe I'm just impatient but waiting for the blast shield to lower is quite annoying.

I have a theory as to why the so-called "blast door" is there, and it's nothing to do with realism at all (as technically it's in the wrong place, it should be behind the ship - but then we wouldn't be able to see it in action).

It's everything to do with giving enough time for the game client's 'RNG' (as people summarize it), to generate NPC's to simulate ships docking/undocking from the station.

There we go - I have now ruined your immersion forever ;)
