Nope, it's simply pricing to suit game mechanics. if there was an economy controlling these things then prices will differ depending on the economy and location of the source you purchased at.

Not even that. They are just some arbitrarily chosen prices that have never been adapted and put into relation to changes in the game mechanics or to the introduction of new ships or modules.
