I do enjoy the limited amount of story and plot ED offers us. The conflict between the various factions, expansion of territories is all the story seems to offer. Sure periodically the Galnet will have news that is interesting. I myself traveled to see the outpost a certain scientist had established in the Maia system. Sadly I didn't get to see it. I try to emerge myself in the game and establish a role in the society. Recently taking up the mantel of explorer, I find it a crucial role. Explorers map new systems, paving the way for potential colonization and mining operations. I know there are ways to power grind exploring and make money with exploration. However I find that as Trader Vyx, I simply can not just dump into a star system, scan the star and move on if there isn't enough to make my time worth it. I will scan each celestial object with my detailed surface scanner to ensure that the homeworld has detailed scans of the planets and stars. While I know there aren't survey teams and companies spending hundreds of thousands of credits or millions to survey and colonize, I want to pretend there are. By providing details instead of time to money ratio scans, I ensure those companies and governments do not waste resources on an earth like planet that looks promising. Only to find out that because the explorer did not provide details, that planet has too much ammonia in the atmosphere and the whole project is a waste of resources. How do you role play the game?
