The sacrifices we make for ED

I've been playing ED with integrated graphics, and averaging 15 FPS on the lowest possible settings. I will soon be upgrading.

What's the biggest sacrifice you would make to play ED? If you could only play like I am (15 FPS, lowest graphics, no joystick, VA, or oculus) would you still do it?

Or would you play at even lower settings? Just curious to see how people are running the game, and how much FPS and graphics mean to everybody over just the game experience by itself.

I get great FPS on the forums, but the mental diseases that come from reading the forums regularly make it just as bad as the game

I discovered it by accident when turning off the HUD with CTRL-ALT-G but accidentally hitting F instead of G, so you are probably right.

sold my graphic card on local auction to help me afford new one to support 3 monitors to play it surround/eyefinity thing.

never needed that before, and the grahpic card was well untill i realized i need another one to SLI or newer one without needing it.
And also bought 3rd exact same monitor for higher price because they arent aviable anymore..

AMD fx 8 cores, gtx 760 ti, fair bit of RAM, so the first time I booted ED, it told me I could run it in ultra…
Sweet!
The only thing is my monitor is VGA, and I can't afford to buy a decent HD screen yet.

Still having a blast with the game, though.

Most of the time I run the game in low graphics and at 25-30 FPS and by and large everything is fine - the biggest complaint I would have with the graphics at those settings is that sometimes parts of the stations can look a little fuzzy from certain angles. Not noticed any performance problems in terms of the FPS - game seems pretty smooth apart from occasional short pauses when I've been playing for more than about an hour without giving the laptop a break.

Currently have the graphics on medium as am in Sol sightseeing.

Elite is the only graphics 'heavy' game I play on PC - otherwise my main game on PC is Football Manager and I have a PS3 for gaming (which I don't use often enough to justify upgrading to PS4)

So far I've only sacrificed chickens, but I might move up to goats if it's taking too long to afford a FdL otherwise.
