the sad truth of people still defending frontier

Steam reviews aren't exactly and authoritative source for anything. Personally, I trust my own 800+ hours of experience over Steam reviews. I've had quite a lot of fun with Elite.

Lol they used the steam review argument right before this page.

Ye I know that ppl have other perspectives on games, what really grind my gears is that the ppl forgot what it meant to buy a game for $60. Price ~ performance value.
Just take a look at the frontline of StarCitizens and ED. SC with their features and content brings far more then ED for the "same" price. And I know its not done and buggy, but still in the latest beta I already can see what a difference in the end will be.

Currently in Star Citizen you can explore three barren moons (and one big asteroid) and engage in some very basic trading. You can also technically engage in ship to ship combat, but it's essentially broken right now. There are also some basic missions. That's it. All of this at an average of 15-20 FPS.

I would not pay more than 5 euros for that then

You forgot to mention that the flight model make the game look like turrets in space... Least Elite simulates gravity... shock horror! All that people seem to be swooning over in all of the SC videos iv seen is just that the Engine and its lighting make the game look super cinematic. Other than that, iv not really seen anything that brings far more content than any other game. Arguably, its roughly the same as NMS from what iv seen of it. Oh yeah... and with a budget like what? 10x? or 100x what FDev had from the kickstarter...

News flash... Shiny graphics don't make a game... getting a little tired of the 'playstation generation' who make weird statements equating graphics to gameplay.

While graphics don't make a game, it sure does help if your game plays good and looks good.

It looks not good it looks phenomenal.! I can tell you this Dinsoaur models and animations are A LOT OF WORK. And i mean it! But thats pretty much everything they worked on as it seems sadly.

looks good, but as i said in other post, lacks on many things, its pretty casual.... and shallow. ( i dont saying its bad, because its enjoyable but... till when? )

Just answer one question, replayability compared with other games / same genere?

I get the feeling it's about the same amount. Though I don't tend to replay management sims a whole ton after I get to a point. Most of the 'replay' comes in the early phases when I'm figuring out what works and what doesn't, after that, after building up to a point, the fun just falls off and I move on. Maybe as they add more dinos or scenarios it will increase the desire for replays.

Excuse me, what is that? a new argument to restart the same discussion again? let me tell you this, it doesn't have aliens either, and no, you can't handfeed the dinos.

You try to make the point that the game is simple and easy, point taken, we might agree or no, just move on.

You mean it would be a better game if it had a bunch of garbage tier and unfinished mods for it? Are you joking? Most of the JPOG mods are garbage. Even the graphics mods are just putting lipstick on a pig. At the end of the day JPOG is just a bad, horrible looking game.
No. No. And you are only correct about graphics from a 15 year old. game for systems 2 generations ago. What I said was correct.

none at this moment ... :( I finished story after 3 days. today I started nublar and realized the space is too small for "realistic" enclosers. That meants the game forced me to use many Tiny cages, if I want to have more than 8 species ... it took the fun from the sandbox especially since every corner of my park and every encloser looks similiar

Would that be a hard fix or Frontier? To make more of Nublar accessible?

I suggest finding JPOG somewhere. That game is still extremely playable to this day. So many mods for it to find, and mods still being made today. If the current game can do their own mods, but the developers and programmers themselves to satisfy even 1/10th of what the community is asking, this current game will be the best dinosaur game that has ever existed. JPOG right now is still hands down the best. This one is not a bad game though. We've enjoyed it now for 2 days straight and just slightly getting repetitive. But that's only with the animal behaviors. A little more variance there and I could well play this, maybe 15 years down the road, like JPOG is still being played.
Lol, JPOG is only fun in a few hours. Then you reach visitors cap at 100, toilet cap at 5 and dinos cap at 60. JPOG looks liker garbage too. Helicopters are broken on PC win10 and even digsites are capped. You need to mod your pc version of JPOG to make it decent. JPOG is only better when it comes to visitors needs and they actually wear some of the souvenirs. And the air baloon can be hit by lightning strike and it will crash somewhere like inside of a enclosures and then you have to save the surviving tourists. Tornado is annoying af in JPOG.

I'd like to buy this game, but my previous experience with Frontier is holding me back. They seem to release games that aren't finished then spend a year building them out. This was very evident in Elite Dangerous, it took literally 1 year for the base game to feel complete, and another year for the expansion to feel somewhat finished. A lot of features were simply released and abandoned CQC and Powerplay to name a few.

If a game is an alpha early release, it should at least be marketed as such. All of Fontier's games have been marketed as complete games and they are not. Maybe in a year this will be worth picking up.... I honestly don't know how this game was ever released without the ability to randomize and use an entire island. That's something that should have been in the base game. A square sandbox would have been good 10-20 years ago, but it's not acceptable with today's technology. Limited islands leads me to believe this game will have a short lifespan for the average gamer.

This game should natively support modding. I think the community could add a lot. Unfortunately that goes against the DLC dinosaur concept of Deluxe edition.

Game is very good - you should try it OP, rather than just reading some negative reviews.

And do try to watch your blood pressure, all that ranting can't be good for you ;)

It really isn't. In addition to the issues originally mentioned the game is an effort in tedium. The game forces you to micromanage everything from curing sick dinosaurs to refilling food dispensers. Every time a food dispenser runs out I need to go to the ranger station and scroll across the whole map find each empty food dispenser. To make matters worse the game puts arbitrary limitations to make you micromanage stuff even more such as the limits on the numbers of orders. So if I need to do four or six tasks at a time I can't just tell one jeep to do all of them whenever they get around to it, I need to switch around between two or three jeeps wasting yet more time on doing more boring garbage. Then there are the missions, I play this game because I want to make a park, I don't mind research or digging up dinosaurs and in fact like those parts, but I hate that 99.5% of the game is locked behind the tedious and arbitrary missions even after you unlock the sandbox mode. "Oh you want to make a Spinosaurus? Sure, just play the game for 30 hours slowly grinding your way through tedious and nonsensical missions so that you can actually enjoy the game." They couldn't even release cheats with the game so if I don't care about their pointless campaign I could just skip it and make my own park without having to deal with my own workers purposely sabotaging the park while another guy tells me to release dinosaurs into the park and a third one keeps telling me to make more raptors.

Honestly they should have just made it a game based around microtransactions "pay $5 to unlock this dinosaur" at least than the forced tedium would have made some sense, as it stands it looks like the developers thought their story mode was such a great story that everyone should be forced to play through it. Just give me my dinosaurs and infinite money already and I will call the game decent tier. As it stands right now I consider this game a dumpster fire because it is a sandbox style game that won't let you actually play a sandbox mode.

Wow, 3 days? :/
I've been playing since launch every day after work (17:00-00:00 .. about 7 hours a day) and I haven't even really started on Isla Muerta yet ( couple of buildings ). Decided that I won't leave each island unless I've hit 5-stars.

They are literally using the same engine from Planet Coaster.

And the same engine from Elite: Dangerous. Horrifying, a company using their own in house engine to develop their own games!

Come off it OP, cut the hyperbole. Its ok to not like a game and point out things you think are flaws, but at least keep it constructive.
