Hi,
Finally completed my longest "shakedown cruise" in elite. Basically it consisted of going as far south as I could get, all the way to beagle point and back again, which is kinda odd as it started out as a trip to Obsidian Orbital to see how well my exploration anaconda build would work.
From then on it became a "well the edge of the galaxy is close, why don't I go there".. "Oh it's further away than I thought but i'm here now"... Then "Actually Sag A is closer than home so i'll head there", then "hmm looking at it actually if I go to Sag A then i'm halfway to beagle point(oh how naïve of me..) so I may as well".. and so on and so on..
Well a little over 2 months and some 216,000 LY and 139M credits later my shakedown cruise is over.
I think my ship, "Shackleton" passed its shakedown cruise arriving home with 93% hull, the 7% being done when my hotas ghosted inputted into a star some 15KLY out. BAH, but at least it did about 200K LY with no additional hull or PP damage
I've no idea if this is considered the "done thing to do" but posted below is a very safe route from Roncevaux Crossing to beagle point. By no means is it the shortest, or the most optimised but what it does ensure is that you will get there without running much risk of turning back, being cooked by the dreaded binary or encountering one after the other of unscoopable stars.
Basically, if you want to get to Beagle point in a 34LY or thereabouts ship this is a safe route to use(variances in the "I want to kill you" route planner permitting)
My Ship Buiild http://coriolis.io/outfit/anaconda/...3v42i2f24.Iw18WAMwyfCA.Aw18ZlA=?bn=Shackleton
I've now idea what is worthy of routes being given a name in the exploration community, but in the long hours spent jumping I came to know it as the Shackelton path
Hope people find it useful

Ship used was a 34.2LY Anaconda, but any ship capable of using the Roncevaux Crossing should be ok, albeit using a lot more plot points and jumponium
As mentioned above, it's not optimised for distance or time but should be a nice reliable route to BP and back
