I like the 'Forbidden Zone'. It's very Blakes' 7 :)
How goes your exploration of the Abyssal Plain?

Thanks!

It's been fairly uneventful but I've been getting slightly more than usual Earthlikes and quite a lot of water worlds. Water worlds seem fairly common far below the plane on the "outer bottom" of the Galaxy and they do seem to keep appearing out on the edge.

I'm just getting near the end of the Scutum-Centaurus Arm and going to need jumponium, only problem being it's about 2,600ly to the farthest system I can see on the map but I only have enough jumponium to go 2,300ly and be sure of getting back... so it will be touch and go and hoping for some shorter hop "bridges" among local systems on the way.

I tried looking at the Mare Desperationis gap from Zephyrus or Wagar's Reach but those would involve a big detour and to be honest it looked like even more jumponium would be needed to reach my destination from there.

Onwards and, er, trailingwards!

Yes indeed, although it is nice to come across some familiar names on "Discovered by" tags every now and then. The interesting this is that as you reach the sparser areas with more bottle-necks the limited choice of possible routes brings Commanders back together again.

It's the denser-but-still-distant clumps in the spiral arms that have a lower proportion of discovered systems simply due to the huge number of possible routes through them (and maybe the higher draw of really remote destinations pulls people through these areas quickly, not hanging around to survey everything - like mountain peaks, people like the challenge of the end/edge of the arms "because it's there"...)

It's quite something to get to the end of the spiral arm, discover CMDR Stulli has scanned all the stars, and then find one spectral class G system he has missed with an undiscovered Earthlike in it :D
