The Scriveners. Did we make a mistake?

So now that the Scriveners Clan have safely evaded Orion University's take over and are now roaming free in the black, GalNet has told us that the Dredger ship's Knowledge Core will remain a mystery.
And as much as I wanted to see the Scriveners Clan free from Orion University, I can't help but feel like maybe we made a mistake?

It's a bit disappointing that we will now have to go on with the mystery of what that knowledge core could have told us.
Of course, who really knows if FDev even had it in their plans to release some sort of information if the CG went the other way.
GalNet could have just as easily read;
"Orion University successfully overrides Dredge ship, and have kept the Knowledge Core information undisclosed from the public leaving it a mystery to what information the Knowledge Core holds."

Either way, it feels like we're left with a "what if" and a bit of a cliff hanger.
But we don't know what the future holds, so I guess we'll see if FDev has any more plans for this in the future.

Maybe you should've thought of that before supporting the other outcome?

We would most likely get some coordinates of some yet undiscovered things, like lost generation ship, abandoned surface base, guardian ruin, Thargoid wreck or something like that. I don't think it was anything completely new. If it was, they will find a way to point us towards it sooner or later. Maybe this story isn't over. Wasting development time and burying something because people chose option B, where absolutely nothing happens? Unlikely.

There is no way these "rumours" could be based on anything factual in-universe, as nobody but the Scrivener's know what is in the core. I read that article as being quietly paid for by Orion, it painted them in a very nice light. It credited Orion for not pursuing the Scrivener's after they escaped Orion's siege to an unknown location, for example. It also suggested that they needed Orion's protection, as if they hadn't been doing just fine before Orion turned up to threaten them.

Out of universe, it may have been Frontier hinting at information we could have gotten. Or maybe we wouldn't have. Or maybe the Scriveners are still out there, and we'll come across them again, and they'll remember us. We'll see.

I think it was pretty obvious that the knowledge would be lost. Which is why I supported OU, especially since they kept changing from the unreasonable "seize the ship" demand that I wouldn't have supported, into more reasonable ones, up to the point the last one would've been simply accompanying the ship for science purposes. The exchanges could have even helped to improve that extreme isolationist nature of the Scriveners, as that approach can be really unhealthy.

That said, Galnet still hints we might find this core one day - on the Scriveners wreckage if they ever find themselves on a challenge that they aren't able to surpass themselves with their ultra-isolationist nature.

It contained the schematics for small seismic charge launchers and the location for the single hidden port that sells cobra 4s. Congratulations white knighting didn't pay off.
