Alioth Permit- My story
Ok so i used a trading tool, but is showed up some juicy trade routes in Alioth for my 416t trading Anaconda, i checked the map, not too far, 90ly, but just one problem.
Alioth is a permit system, and although i have a long list of them, Alioth was not one of them.
I target 78 ursae Majoris, looks like the closest system, and make the trip. On arrival at the station, i check out the boards for missions for Alioth independents, not any i can do in my Anaconda, so i buy a cheap sidey and take a few missions that pop up occasionally to deliver cargo to outposts. I also take a mission to take out this guy in the next system, but i swap back to the Anny for that one.
Doing pretty well, but it has taken me a few hours to rise from neutral to friendly with Alioth.
What made it worse is that i can see the missions that give me the permit, but unavailable, Allied rank required.
The stubborn side of me takes over, i had already been fined, got bounties, from having prohibited goods, and i am in a hostile area, so have to deal with other Powers ships attacking me, and getting fines/bounties for that too.
After checking for what seemed ages, a mission came up, change of leadership, and for the Alioth Independent, rep and influence was high, this might be the one to help get allied i thought.
So i accept the mission, take off to the system flagged up in the map, and start checking USS and other places, nada, nothing, then this guy Edward Longhurst shows up in supercruise, and guess what, i have no interdictor.
After visiting the nearest station i return with my interdictor, and sure enough, not long before "old Edward" shows up.
I successfully interdict him, he is in a wing of 3, and he has a pretty solid Python.
He is my target, but not wanted, and him and his mates try to talk me out of it, telling me there's a better way, and to check my transmissions. I was hoping he would fire first, but he didn't.
NO, i need that permit, i open fire, and try to take him down. Both ships open fire on me, but his shields slowly go down, so does his hull to 42%, but all of a sudden lots of other ships appear, all turn red, it's the feds, and i am now wanted. I try to finish him, but with shields gone, hull down to 91%, and so many ships, it's a lost cause, time to get the hell out of dodge.
I headed to the nearest station, to be on the safe side i boosted in with heatsinks, and repaired my busted up ship, more credits to pay, this permit is getting very costly.
Undeterred i headed back into SC, searching, searching, there he is. Edward your mine.
I interdicted him again, same as before, a wing of 3. I engage weapons (turrets and gimbals) i have him down to 49&, but again the radar is full of red triangles, but my stubborn streak kicks in again, and i stay, it's gonna be him or me i think to myself. I killed Edward, but my shields are gone, my hull is lower than ever before, still the feds pound me, time to go.
I head to the nearest station to repair, now i have a 7 day bounty too, so again i have to get past the scans, this time i failed, and the station opens up on me, i have to jump out.
i again head out to get repaired, for safety i avoided the scans, and then headed to townsend hub to finally finish the mission, on arrival i again had to aviod the scans, and after entering the station rather un-cerimoniously, using heatsinks, and finaly the DC, i hit the button and mission done. BUT I AM STILL ONLY FRIENDLY, AFTER ALL THAT. And so far it has cost me plenty of credits.
But such great fun can be had in this game.
