The secret life of NPCs?

What do NPCs do when no player is in the instance? Example sometimes NPCs interdict other NPCs and if you drop down on their wake you can see them in a fight. If you do not drop on their wake, Will the interaction between them still happen?

Also, what about systems that have no player currently in them?

My understanding is that it's instanced, so a system with no players is just a set of possibilities.

Is there a quantum theory of npcs? Maybe it would explain why they are able to violate the rules the players have to follow.

NPC's spawn on the player's machine. There are no NPC's unless a player is there to spawn them into his/her instance.

I once asked my boss for the day off on the basis that if I wasn't there there could be no problems because the whole place would despawn.

Lol. So true. I hate when you bring things up that the npcs do that in no way we can do other cmdrs say its not possible they run by the same rules. I call . The npcs are allowed to do things we are not allowed or cant do.
