The ship I'm most looking forward to in the Gamma is...

Ok those who are familiar with the old game / fan remakes of Elite which ship or ships are you looking forward to.

I'm really looking forward to the FerdeLance. In the old game the FerDeLance (French for spearhead) was like an upturned speedboat. It was fast and had a wide turning circle and a powerful forward laser. It would swoop in and attack in a long strafing run before zooming off and was almost impossible to catch!

I hope the new version retains this style. Bigger than a fighter, more Cobra sized but long and sleek as opposed to wide and bat like. I imagine it to have only 3 gun slots but the large centerlline capable of holding the plasma accelerator. :D the other two capable of carrying medium class guns!

I want to turn the ship into a pure combat ship and go bottom-tearing across the galaxy causing mischief! :D

What ship are you looking forward to in the gamma?

Fer-de-lance too, but for this phrase and this phrase alone: "...favoured by the well-heeled bounty hunter..."

I don't know what it is about those words that captured a 14 year old, but they've stayed with me ever since I first read them!

Still the Asp. Still haven't accrued enough credits to get one in Beta 3. (Though that big Python-de-Lance peek of the week looks sweet :) ).

The cheap & functionally useless Lifter. I'll fly them kamikaze style into System Authority vessels when the mood arises "have that you stop-and-search privacy-violating cretins!"

The Constrictor: I wonder if it will have the cloaking device. If i remember it was the only ship to have one. :) (Probably not they said cloaks won't be in the game. Good job too.)

Harrier, actually

Harrier was a good ship in Frontier: First Encounters, it was as big as an ASP if I remember correctly but more maneuverable.

Hi Rusti! ;)

;)
....(Abbreviated)... :) (Probably not they said cloaks won't be in the game. Good job too.)

No Cloaks?...in that case I'll wear a dark blue uniform with gold buttons, a peaked hat, white shirt and a smart tie, and I'll be piloting an Orca Passenger ship.

Side note...I think the recently introduced dress code rules for playing Elite might put a few players off the game, but credits go to Frontier for setting the bar right at the start, good move I reckon, keeps out the riff raff. ;) :D

.
Jack :)
