The ship is ready, I just don't know why I haven't left yet

Hello Commanders,

Perhaps some of you will remember that my voyage out into the black was supposed to begin 14 months ago. It didn't, though I did make a trip out to see the Formidine Bases and the Zurara. I enjoyed that trip quite a bit, to be honest. It was nice to not have any of the distracting Bubble treadmills, though to be perfectly honest, none of those are really that bad if you have the time to power through them.

I still have yet to take the voyage that I have planned since not long after purchasing the game, and I'm getting a bit frustrated. My frustration has nothing to do with the game itself, per se, it's more the fact that I have this thing still undone that has been one of the primary reasons that I have continued to play the game. It seems like I'm always waiting for something, always putting it off until that next thing has happened.

Most recently, I was waiting for the T-10, and to a lesser extent, the final phases of 2.4. The T-10 turned out roughly as I had hoped, which was nice. She is now built and Engineered, and while I could get a couple more light years of jump range, I just don't feel that extra time and effort would be worth it. Honestly, if jump range was a primary consideration, I would just pull the Anaconda out of retirement. I am quite happy being somewhere in the ballpark of the point of diminishing returns on jump range, even though my T-10 is on the low end of that range.

The thread title says ship, but really, it's ships. Even though I've been waiting for the T-10, I find myself hesitating. I also have a Clipper, Cutter, DBX, and the mothballed Anaconda that I could take. I have almost every ship in the game built and Engineered to some degree or other, but the above are the only ones in contention, and of those, it's really just the two Gutamaya Girls and the T-10.

So, part of the problem is the waiting, but that's minor - I think the major setback is the continued waiting, and not doing. This mirrors a couple of things in my real life, and I have not failed to recognize that reflection. As I close out this year, with some things still undone (both in game, and in real life), I have a desire for me to have a different perspective, which hopefully leads to different (better) results.

Perhaps taking this voyage will be the catalyst that changes things in my real life, but I'm actually hoping it's the other way around.

Happy New Year, Commanders - take stock, pick a direction, and start making decisions that move you along that road.

Are you Oscar Levant? He said, "Once I make up my mind, I'm full of indecision."

Does it matter whether A is the motivation for B or visa versa if the end result is the same? Accomplishment isn't always achieved using a strict plan.

Motivational Quotations:
"Resolve to perform what you ought; perform without fail what you resolve." - Ben Franklin
"Either I will find a way, or I will make one." - Philip Sidney

Good luck, Cmdr, and fly how you like, safe or dangerous. o7

Consider:

You would like to live a healthier lifestyle, partly to increase your chances of attracting a significant person, but you have problems actually doing it, or sticking with it. You randomly meet a significant person, and they inspire you to start living healthier, and you do so.

One of those is objectively better than the other, even though the end result of both is a healthier lifestyle, and that significant person being in your life.

On a different note:

I spoke to a friend on the phone today, who I haven't spoken to in a long time. That's on me, since he lives across the pond, and I can call him without extra cost. I was going to try to find a way to bring the conversation around to Elite, since I was pretty sure he would really like it, and he ended up beating me to it. It seems he, and a few of his friends, also play this game.

If there is a possibility of a group Expedition, then I think I'm going to hang around a bit before departing. There are, after all, things I can do in the meantime.

There is also a really good chance that I'm going to buy an Oculus - his stamp of approval on things carries some weight, since we have a similar viewpoint on a lot of things, and it seems that it is $400 now, instead of $600.
