Diamondbacks: full size truck, debatable until someone blows up Sag-A as to which brand. Personally my thoughts are an offroad kitted out toyota tundra.... and that's not because they're more or less the last base level fullsize that you can still get a manual option in.

I reckon the Sidewinder would be one of those cars that's trying to be sporty and cool but failing... in game it looks sort of similar to the much more expensive and relatively powerful Cobra, so yeah.
Diamondback Explorer would probably be a big 4x4 - designed to go anywhere, and modifiable for pretty much anything.
And then a Type-9 heavy would be that thing NASA used to transport bits of space shuttle around I guess:

Hmmmm... Viper would be a Lotus or something - nimble and quick but not too expensive and still mass-produced, with Vulture being similar but slightly more expensive - an Ariel Atom perhaps?

Python:
bpOpdKS.jpg

Python is a space Volvo, with all the positive and negative connotations that come with that label. Even from behind, they look somewhat similar. You can make the Python a 284 trader, and still have pretty hefty shields. The traits of being tough, spacious, reliable scream stereotypical Volvo.

The Fer-de-Lance is like an Italian sports car, and the styling of ZPG ships are like the classic space-planes of the early years of Space travel, and have pretty nice interiors too.

Clipper (or Gutamaya in general) is like Aston Martin.

If you could liken space travel to the human body, Faulcon deLacy is the brain, Gutamaya is the face, Lakon is the stomach but Zorgon Peterson is the heart and soul.

Wasn't there a video where the ED devs themselves compared the ships to cars and other vehicles? I recall them saying the Eagle is a motorcycle, and the Hauler is a transit van etc.

Had bit more of a think on this last night and after watching an Episode of Morse I decided the Sidewinder is one of these

Like the idea of the Python as a big Volvo estate - I always saw it as an a Jaguar XJ with all that wood and leather

Vulture:

Similar to my real life Vulture. Big and powerful, yet surprisingly agile and still beautifully ugly.

T9:

Chevrolet_Beauville_--_01-17-2011.jpg

Used to own one of these, very similar in payload, handling characteristics, and speed (or lack thereof).
