The Ships of Elite: Dangerous on the Oculus Rift [Video]

[Updated: 13 Feb.] Below is a collection of videos I have made showing the insides of the various ships in the game. Currently in game (and this may change at some point), it is possible to walk around inside the ships when using an Oculus Rift DK2. This enables us to view areas and angles of the cockpits and bridges we cannot usually see.

Great these videos, thanks for doing them.

Even though I've not played ED for a few months now, its nice to see how it may develop with walk around interiors later.

I think this does show that OR could almost be 'a must', to really get the best from this game. However, I'm still waiting for higher quality from the set, not sure what it stands at now.

Wait, what? You can walk around inside with the Rift? Any idea whether this can be done with normal head tracking (FreeTrack/TrackIR/FreeTrackNoIR)?

It may well be a bug. I know that people have reported it as such, but the ability still remains in the game. And yes the first time I saw the headless body in the Rift, it was indeed a bit freaky. As for walking, you're right my in-game avatar isn't walking - but I myself am actually walking as you can see in the following video:

Yah I saw it and it looked really cool. I am still waiting on a consumer version of Oculus. I have thought of getting the DK2, but I am not sure if I should.
