The shortest horry story of Elite Dangerous

I once met another CMDR in Solo mode...

Where you able to interact with them? Were they aware of your presence? Did their ship behave in any way odd (other than appearing in your Solo instance?

I have seen videos of alleged "haxorz" appearing in Group instances to which they were not a member, with their ships carrying out various feats well beyond the known abilities of that vessel.

If any of the above matches your experience, you should report using the in-game "Report a player" function, with as much detail as you can recall.

No, I didn't really. This was just a nonsensical Thread Opening. ;) Probably will be warned/banned from the forums, if I continue like this.

But yeah, I'm now curious if that would be possible by hacking...

Depends on how FD have set things up.

I suspect that a flag is set in a data-table when you select a mode. When you enter a new instance a check on the flag will decide if this instance is open, group or solo. Then when another player enter the same area of space a check is made against their mode and if the same they get to see each other, if it's any different then they do not and a new instance is opened.

The only way to hack that would be to get access to the data-table which means hacking AWS, locate the virtual server FD are using, hacking to that, finding the table, altering it and hoping it works. Chances are that FD have already though of this and have other protection in place which I'd best not talk about ;)
