The Sidewinder in rotation

I hope that Frontier is going to improve the aspect and the movements of rotation. In FE2, the spaceships are full, colored and the movements of rotation go in all directions. Left, right, up, down. It is dynamic, and very pleasant to look. In the alpha, The Sidewinder is sad to look. Lines of orange color and the movements of rotation only in the opposite direction of clockwise. It is flat and without dynamism. Everything I've seen in ED so far is fantastic. But this spaceship in rotation is really disappointing for me, which knew FE2. --- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ry45VcIWKrQ#t=0m18s ---

The orange sidewinder is only a movie and uses an older version of the ship than is in game. Apparently it is in the Alpha as they needed to put something onscreen whilst the data was loading etc.

In the finished game it will be different and once the game is up and running it should be near-seamless, so no loading screens.

No loading screens? Where did you read that?

From what I understand (subject to confirmation etc. etc.) once you are in the game - i.e. in your ship.. there is no loading screens for example when you change areas, dock etc. I'm vaguely recalling a discussion in the DDF from memory.

There may be something on startup but I suspect it will not be "this".

As this OP discusses a specific element of the Alpha as it stands, using Ashley's giudelines, this thread has been moved from General to here.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Even if there will be no loading screens in the game I have no problem with the rotating sidewinder. I really do not understand OP's criticism. It's just a movie...

Well even if it is seamless loading after your in the game you will always get at least one loading screen when you first load the game up.

I must confess that I'm struggling to see the OP's point as well; and without wishing to set the wrong tone am actually a little curious as to his motive. At this stage perhaps we should be a little more concerned about whether it works than about what it looks like.

As a direct response, I don't have any issue with it at all.

He probably just miss interpreted the purpose of the rotating Sidewinder, thinking that this would be how the new spinning ships would be implemented in game and not just a place holder for the loading screen during Alpha.

It still looks cool for what it does, and I am pretty sure that we will get a spinning ship function in game when ship trading is available. I mean, I have not played much of Elite (except for some OOlite) but even I am expecting that after years of Eve Online playing... which a huge chunck of its gameplay is hours of ship spinning :p

And the ship designers will probably want to show out their masterpieces in game.

I'm ok with it. If they decide to keep the loading screen as a movie then fair enough, if they make it an actual rotating 3d model then agin, fair enough ;)

Thanks to all for your opinions. In fact, as I do not participate in the alpha, I did not know that it was a movie during the load of the alpha. I thought that it was what we would see when we would consult the screens "characteristics of the ship".

You remember the screens in FE2 ? The appearance of spaceships and the movements of rotation were much more developed than what we see with the Sidewinder. Thus, I hope that in the commercial game, the appearance and the rotation will be more elaborated like in FE2. For the pleasure to look.

Im not on Alpha level but the videos I have seen I like it !!

The rotating ship is far more pleasant than a BORING LOADING BAR....YAWN !!
that also stops and starts on loading games ...
