What are the Silverbacks all about?

This squadron started as a funny and nostalgic conversation with a bunch of older gamers in the Inara discussion threads. The joke was made that we should call ourselves the Silverbacks, and on a whim the new squadron was founded.

While we are officially not committed to a major Faction or Power, the Silverbacks are committed to fighting the fair fight. We defend humanity from Thargoids, the defenseless from pirates and murderers, and we uphold the principles of Liberty and Democracy.

We have a number of operations in place, from managing the minor faction BGS in our systems, destroying pirates, and combating the Thargoid threat, to peaceful exploration, trading, and mining. We also provide opportunities for commanders new to any aspect of the game to learn the ropes in tandem with some of the most seasoned commanders you'll find anywhere in the galaxy.

In-game squadron divisions for the Silverbacks are present on all Elite Dangerous platforms: PC, Playstation, and XBox.

Cool, Ive been looking for exactly this kind of group.

After 2 years on hiatus (learning to fly the Warthog in DCS VR taking lessons with a real pilot), Im back to fly in ED again. Im a retired video editor that loves flight sims and games. And ED in VR takes my breath away every time I fly. Ive always played in solo cause I want to have fun flying.

But this time , with all the new developments, I think Im ready to meet some good folks to share the fun with. I just started 2 weeks ago and have worked my way up trading from a Sidey to a Cobra Mark 2 to a Type 6 . With that one, the credits started rolling in, so yesterday I got the Vulture (still have the mod kit I got 2 years ago and it is sweet). And today, with eventual exploration on my mind I got a Diamondback Explorer. Though for now I will just putter with those last 2 ships as I sock away credits from delivering stuff. When they are built the way I want, it will be dog fight and exploration time! ;)

Please tell me more about the Silverbacks and how I can participate. Im based in Las Vegas if time zone is a consideration and play on PC with the Valve Index.

How active? I've been away from the game for a few years and just got back on. Have warships and exploration ships. Looking for a chill group to join and interact with.

@GunnerBill: our home system is Arexe, although a few of us are out in the Colonia Bubble at the moment.
@Pallis/@Skadog73: in-game squadron request (SID: SVBK) and head on over to Inara to look us up why not? (See my or Junagu's sig-pic for the link)
@BigNappyChappy: lazy as ... , busy as ..., whatever you want there's probably one or more of us doing it.

Come on over, we'll smoke a kipper and drink some banana wine (although it's an acquired taste).
