If we're going realism, we need A LOT more birds and invertebrates. Also some more reptiles.I actually think we need more common, basic species that are omnipresent in zoos. Especially smaller species that aren't gonna be the main attraction
Oh I 100% agree with this. I'd say get...If we're going realism, we need A LOT more birds and invertebrates. Also some more reptiles.
For example a medium sized zoo like San Francisco Zoo only has 78 mammal species, 26 reptile and amphibian species, 84 birds, and 50 invertebrates.
London Zoo has 70 mammal species, 99 birds, 49 reptiles, 207 fish, 228 invertebrates.
Berlin Zoo (a larger zoo) has 169 mammals, 319 birds, 69 reptiles, 54 amphibians, 562 fish, 331 invertebrates.
A lot of the massive specie count in zoos derives from their massive bird, insect, (and if they have an aquarium) fish count.
Planet Zoo currently has 103 mammals, EIGHT birds, 21 reptiles, 8 amphibians, and EIGHTEEN insects.
Thus the current inventory is completely unbalanced. Frontier needs to add imo like 50 interesting birds + 50 interesting invertebrates, maybe a dozen more reptiles and amphibians each. The mammal count on the other hand is relatively close to complete (maybe 30-40 more). But we need DLCs focused specifically on reptiles, amphibians, birds, invertebrates eventually and they need to dump A LOT of those species very fast because nobody will buy them in batches of 5 or 8 like in the primarily mammal packs.
Also aquarium, if Frontier decides to do it, should be a proper expansion (priced at relatively the same as the base game) and contain maybe 100 fish species.
But even in the real zoos, 99% of zoogoers don't care much about the 30 different duck species in the wetlands aviary, or the 60 different worm and spider species in the insectarium. Also these inverterbarates numbers are inflated by stuff like coral, jellys, and others which are not feasible for PZ.If we're going realism, we need A LOT more birds and invertebrates. Edit: this is probably off-topic so disregard this.
Very true. Definitely not saying in any way we don't need more non-mammals, because we do, especially birds IMO. But typically, mammals are the main attraction at zoos. And as a result, make up the majority of zoo game offerings. Naturally, some people would rather see different types of animals, just talking about what's probably the majority of people. But even in the real zoos, 99% of zoogoers don't care much about the 30 different duck species in the wetlands aviary, or the 60 different worm and spider species in the insectarium. We need more, but not that much more to be able to build realistically.
I'm thinking Frontier should add the majority of the insects, reptiles, amphibious in a potential Children's Zoo/Education Pack DLC, because those sort of specimens are usually in the children's section and kids really like that sort of thing much more than adults. It would add content to an otherwise sterile/bare Petting Zoo concept DLC (with only farm domesticated mammals otherwise that many players don't care for) which is fast becoming outdated in modern zoos today. Kids want more stuff to do and interact with than just petting the goat.Very true. Definitely not saying in any way we don't need more non-mammals, because we do, especially birds IMO.
