Horizons The sound! The blood! The horror!

OK, this have been praised numerous times but I have to once again take a bow to the sound apartment on FDEV.

A couple of days ago, I visited my brother who's living in the countryside. He's a bonafide nutjob audiophile with numerous awards to prove it. I thought I'd bring the laptop with my 2nd account to test it on his ridiculus sound system.

We started out at Khun where I'd slapped on the enhanced thrusters on an Eagle. I took her for a joyride around the base in full speed and both our ears and eyes popped. I knew the sound was great but in full surround and vol at 11...My Lord.

A couple of hours later when I'd showcase the bulk of the game (and the sounds) my brother, who is a sportgamer at heart, said "I need to own this game."

I'm back now in my Stockholm flat with my medium range headphones and seriously considering moving to the wilderness, or at least a house, to truly enjoy the (somewhat) unsung hero of ED: the audio.[up]

Yep! :)

The sound of ED was one of the major factors that drew me into this game, it just was a blast (especially using headphones). Sound / music is imho something that is still somewhat underrated in games / movies and ED just got it right imho.

Last night I was just sitting in an outpost just listening to the ambient sounds and got me thinking: The reason I can spend 2000+ hrs in game without boredom is because of the audio. You "feel" like your actually out there and subconsciously lose yourself in the moment. Double Plus Bravo to ED Audio team.

Aye the sound is amazing in this game. I built my own home theater in my last house so I kind of consider myself to be a little bit of an audiophile. If you want to build one yourself I could point you in the right direction for the speaker setup. Just let me know.
