After watching Mr D. Braben talking about the future introduction of accurate pulsars, I could not help but feel they overlooked a very important member of our galactic family.


Mr Black Hole.


It is thanks to a gigantic black hole that the galaxy is allowed to exist to begin with. Without its enormous gravitational pull, stars and nebula would have never be able to form.

So I demand justice to be served today in this thread, I demand that black holes receive the same amount of deserved attention.

I want accretion discs to be added, I want to be able to be spaghettified into oblivion if I venture to close to one !

Please FD, this situation cannot be tolerated any-more. I know that the commitment is there, but for scientific accuracy as well as galactic aesthetics, let this much awaited feature be added.

If not for us, the player-base, do it for the black holes. You know they deserve better.

Commanders, let us speak as one voice against this injustice, let us impact on this matter with all the weight of our resolve !

Speak today, so we can live in a better galaxy tomorrow ! o7

In all honesty - yes I would love to see black holes and other phenomena as dangerous, and things to be treated with respect. Both radiation and gravity in some form should affect our ships.

[However, given the 'you don't really want realism want realism' arguments elsewhere raging on another topic, I feel honour bound to say, in a mildly sarcastic way, what about stars generally? Coming out of FSD a few light seconds from any star should melt your ship in fairly short order - coronal temperatures of our sun reach ~1m K, yet according to Elite, we can dogfight there with no shields, and the canopy blown out.]

Kinda agree, after hearing that While Dwarfs and Neutrons got a rework (they were somewhat nasty as is), I was kinda surprised that it seems the Black Holes only received some Visual FX update.

Even remotely trying to "touch the Body Exclusion Zone" of a Black Hole in normal Space should be an absolutely guaranteed Death Sentence.
Don't like the idea of being a few km away from a Gravity Well that is able to shred entire Suns - but my Ship is supposedly not even subject to the slightest gravitational forces (?)

I always thought that black holes could be the one certain way to die. Fly beyond the horizon... same as CMDR reset!
