The Spanish Community

Hi guys,

I think it's time to create the Spanish community in Elite Dangerous.

I'm from Barcelona, i i've though it would be cool to talk about the game and creating multiplayer groups between the spanish community. I think we should write in english in this forum (i'm not sure?), but we can talk in private messages and when the game launches, we will be able to talk in Spanish, Catalan, or Euskera.

I think it's important that we spread the word and have the spanish community involved.

I also created a topic in Spanish in Meristation: http://zonaforo.meristation.com/foros/viewtopic.php?t=2020068

Hope you like the idea! :D

Think it's a great idea to get a Spanish thread going, and I don't see any reason why you shouldn't do it in Spanish (even on here). Especially if it is a thread specifically for that purpose...

Bueno, saludos de Argentina!

A warm welcome to our Spanish brothers and sisters! :D

It all helps the cause, and its great to hear from people around the world who love Elite and want to see ED succeed.

...apologies for tacking this on, but when i saw "spanish community" it reminded me of a very good show:

Hi,

I think it's a great idea to create a Spanish community, or a community for any nationality or language for that matter. However, from my experience it is better for a forum to stick to one language for any public posts, otherwise communities can quickly begin to feel fragmented. It also means that non-Spanish speaking users could contribute to a specific conversation or may see things posted that are useful to them.

Other than this, go for it! ;)

@Paden

Gracias Paden, saludos desde Barcelona!

@cassius5000

Thanks a lot :) I agree, we have to involve the maximum people as possible. That video was fun :D

@Ashley

I agree, we can combine English in this Post, we can do private messages in spanish, and when playing the game also talk in spanish some of us.

This post is not for creating a closed community or a limited group for playing only in spanish.

I think the group could have some english and spanish members as well.

I think the goal is that, as an example: when the game launches, we create a group of 15 people aprox., then if 7 are spanish and 8 of other places, the spanish ones can speak sometimes in spanish, which i think is cool to be able to do that. :)

BTW: i just sent an email to the gaming news site from Spain called www.3Djuegos.com ; telling them to include an article about Elite: Dangerous! I hope they answer back.

On one of the forums I have been know to frequent,
as the guys running it are all German, and many of the forum members are in German,
many posts are in German & English (ie one language first and the same in the other language all in the same post)

(I used Google Translate to post in Spanish to show you what it would look like)

Yeah, it sounds cool! Good idea!

Sí, suena bien! Buena idea! :D

Hey, spaniard here too.

Problem with writing in spanish and english at the same time is just a matter of fluency. I know very well my own language, but it is a litte personal battle when I need to write in english. Taking this into consideration, for me is just impossible to say exactly what I want to say in both languages, and I suppose this is the same for some of my colleagues.

I am unsure of Frontiers policy regarding the language used on the servers - perhaps it will be English where possible (as that is the most common language) but within your own communities / groups you can use what ever you wish.

One thing I can say is that trying to write in English (then put what you meant in Spanish) can assist you with learning English. I do admire people who can speak two or more languages. Clever stuff :)

(Google Translate to the rescue :D)

Clever cosas :)

Hey buddy! Nice seeing you here. Yes, it's always difficult to say exactly the same in both languages...but the good side is that we will improve our English.

Un saludo!

Tambien seria bueno si los que hablan ingles (yo incluido) mejoran su castellano, sin usar Google translate!

It would also be great if British speaking people (including me) improved their Spanish, without using Google translate!

: D

No me gustan las traducciones de una compu / ordenador! I don't like computer generated translations!

@Paden

LOL. I agree. Google translate has it's limitations...

BTW, i asked moving this thread from the old Elite/Frontier forum to the new Elite:Dangerous one.

Hello! Greetings from Mallorca, Spain :)

I think it's a great idea to form a spanish group, so when the game is released we can connect between us, and speak in the radio in spanish.

Also I think it's better to keep writing in english here.
