Engineers The SRV, And Me, Looking For Materials.

Wow! I think I'm the odd one out here - the SRV is my favourite ship!
It isn't as bad as people describe. Drive it like a yobbo and it will spin wildly.

I don't like the way I can drive over a dozen boulders, then go over one that looks identical to the rest and end up bouncing into the air with 3% of my hull gone.

A skimmer would be a nice-to-have feature at some point in the future.

I just read my OP in this thread and since then I've done a bit of driving about in my SRV, and you know what it's not as boring asI claimed, maybe it was because I got what I was looking for and wasn't just doing it to get that mat for that engineer, oh and I diddnt know or had forgotten that you could repair it whilst out and about.

Still not a huge fan but it's not as bad as I was making out. :)

A thruster driven vehicle would work just as well, and could land on top of the ship, like landing on a pad. Fighters could do this, I'm fairly sure.

Well, SRV variants might get my vote - I'd certainly want to keep the current one (with the possible addition of yaw thrusters to maintain attitude when airborne) - but a skimmer-style flying SRV might be great, and a heavy-duty battle SRV might be great, and a maintenance SRV with welder turrets sounds more fun than repair limpets to me!
