Horizons The SRV turret is too jumpy

Can we have some inertial damping on turning the turret left and right, that way tapping the direction you want will result in a small movement, and holding it would speed up, it's far too jumpy to aim with at the moment!

Use a joystick.

It may only be January, but I'd like to nominate this comment as the most useless post for the entirety of 2016.

So OP, just to clarify two things. We're talking about direct turret control mode, and you're using a laptop? Or is there another reason your mouse isn't available for use during turret mode?

Always use the right tool for the job, which in this case would be something with a linear response.

The keyboard is the right tool, and if OP will give me more information on what they're using and why they're using it I'll tell them how to set it up.

The OP isn't happy with the digital response you get from the keyboard. He'll be a lot happier with a joystick. Trust me, I actually own a joystick.

So do I. However, my stick doesn't stop me from understanding how to set up the game.

Do you have anything to contribute yet?

How do you damp the digital response then?

As a sure-fire way to fix any problem, despite his setup. Not the most efficient way though, and not the best program.

Set up a modifier key to toggle, and when toggled a constant digital input gets broken into as many smaller consecutive inputs for whatever length you decide, as often as you decide. With nimble fingers it's just as good as analog for any game.

Indeed :)
Well my mouse pointer jumps every now and then making it very frustrating to try and use, so I have my X52Pro set for operating the turret, up and down is just fine, but left and right the aim shoots past the target every time

I use the right stick on a 360 pad for aiming with the turret and it's fine for me. Didn't even have to fiddle with the sensitivity.

I did somerhing even different me thinks. I have configured an EDTracker (head tracking device made by three Elite fans from UK, they're assembling those now with the help of some professionall company and still the price you can buy it from them - google it - is far lower than the TrackIR retail price). So aiming with my head on-the-fly became pretty fun experience, especially when you have this little indicatior at the lower left corner in turret mode: neural link established. Pretty immersive I might add!!:)))

I do recomend same for the OP.

That's also fixable, but not without some hassle.

Set up a different profile for your X52 that handles the turret the way you want it to feel, and then either bind a button on the X52 to switch profiles (not sure if you can do that with the X52, other sticks are capable of it) or a macro button to switch them.

There are 3rd party programs that will do it also, but it's just an extra piece of fluff that does the same thing setting up a second profile you can switch to would do.

And for mouse control of the turret, please give let us choose whether we want the current "mouse acceleration" style turret movement and 100% linear reaction to mouse movement. I often over- or understeer because depending on how far I move the mouse, that does not correspond linearly to the movement of the turret. :(
