Horizons The SRV turret is too jumpy

I use the hat on the joystic of my x52pro in turret mode. This way I can also steer the SRV too...and it is indeed tooooooo jumpy.
But I cannot use another method because I am not not an octopus.

On my x52pro I use the yaw on the stick to steer and the x and y to aim. That way I can drive and shoot from turret view - eight arms not required. Hat on the back of the throttle does the thrusters.

The big x and y axis mean the turret is a lot less sensitive than when using buttons.

Indeed :)
Well my mouse pointer jumps every now and then making it very frustrating to try and use, so I have my X52Pro set for operating the turret, up and down is just fine, but left and right the aim shoots past the target every time
Worth checking you have the turret aiming set to axis rather than left/right. You'll get a digital response if you use left/right with the stick.

+1 to you sir, this was the answer, there needs to be some sort of dampening on the left-right digital response, I now have the axis bound to my joystick yaw, much better!
Thanks to all those who replied!

Try steering on yaw and turret left/right on the stick x axis.

I'm using trackIR with the warthog HOTAS. I'm also having the same      experience as everyone else here. Here's the 'WHY':

The turret input is i/o only?! (Should be analog for EVERY reason) We'll there's your problem. As well as: no trackIR support in Turret mode?!, no sensitivity adjustments?!

I've even gotten creative and made my stick itself the control for aiming (because it's analog), but no matter what my (only adjustment available) deadzone, it's either actuated/not actuated at full speed. And I'm being very gentle. This does not work, either.

Now for the hard questions...
Who QC'd this trash, and who hasn't fixed this yet?! Try employing more than 30 people, and maybe (just maybe) you'll deliver a half way decent product the first time. That was for you, Frontier.

Spending more time in a game         with the controls, finding out after hours of madness that it's     , and boom: it's time for bed; all you've done is let your missions expire, so screw off A hole, come back tomorrow and      with my controls some more.

SRV... If you're not going balls to the wall or jumping off a cliff on purpose, it's USELESS.

RANT DONE

Nice rant though give you that

Maybe you should look at the games settings. Sensitivity is an option, how about you turn the sensitivity down as well as your attitude?

How would TrackIR work on your turret? You want to snap your neck trying to shoot behind you?

No my dear friend. As I have mentioned above, using EDTracker for the turret mode as well. The drill is you only need gentle movement of your head e.g. to the left (lets say around 5-10 degrees) and if you'll keep your head at this position the turret will keep rotating constantly from right to left. If you'll increase yoir turn with your head (to lets say 30 degrees), the turret will keep rotating/spinning same way though around 2x times faster. So basically if you want to shoot behind you just need to turn your head left a bit, and after 3 seconds the turret will be facing whats behind you. The speed of your turret movement youre controling by the angle, youre seting your head (larger the angle, faster turret view movements). Its becoming pretty intuitive after a while.

The case I love the most is using a turret to look around (360 degrees) my SRV with only gentle movements with my head. Scouting the distant terrain this way. Pretty damn immersive!!:)

Long story short guys, its just another reason to buy yourself some headtracking device, as it will DRAMATICALLY change your gaming experience with ELITE. I know many, many before said so already, but once you will start playing with headtracking device on your headset, you would NEVER, EVER like to play without it anymore. This 500% increase of immersion is just so addictive:)

Cheers CMDRs!!!

I don't understand how HOTAS players can drive the SRV effectively, K+M = WASD for movement with mouse for Aiming turret, I can't grasp how this is possible in HOTAS.

+1 I use this setup as well. And it works very well too.
