The Star Wars Old Republic Thread

Hi Phoenix, I've stuck and amended the thread title if you don't mind. :D

That's quite alright by me.

I might have come across a little negative with my initial comment. It was only with reference with the new star ship combat part of the game, which I think is going to be just a dumbed down Freelancer like deathmatch.

I'm still a subscriber and still enjoying the various character story arcs and I would recommend it to anybody who like a good Free MMO (Download is a bit of though).

It depends entirely on whether you enjoy traditional MMOs or not.

I've never played an MMO in my life, so I don't know what a traditional MMO is. But I do know that I don't like 3rd person point-and-shoot mouse games. If SWTOR is that, then I'll pass and instead replay X-Wing Alliance or Tie Fighter. :)

Don't start :) Chances are it you won't like it (considering other comments from you about games) but on the off chance you do, you might waste years of your life on it, until the attraction fades hehe. They are called Evercrack and World of Warcrack for a reason. Swtor is nice as a single player game because the story is actually quite nice and animation and flair is quite cool. But gameplay can't compete with WoW. Considering that you can play the story mode of SWTor for free it's quite a good deal though :)

What other comments? But you're probably right that I won't like traditional MMO's. I loved the old Star Wars games, though.

Anyway, I'm starting with ED and SC. Both are covered by the MMO definition, although I don't believe they're traditional in any sense. In fact, Chris Roberts distanced himself from the MMO term early on regarding SC, so people wouldn't confuse it with something similar to what they'd experienced before in the MMO genre.
