The story so far...

None of the story makes any sense as there are almost unlimited resources outside the tiny bubble of populated space easily accessible with the new fast hyperspace drive.

In fact the ease of travel should lead to fringe groups, religious cults, and the poor, just upping sticks and moving to the 'new world' - that would be a story and would give explorers other things to find.

Not official lore but I choose to believe that creation of a permanent atmosphere is the sticking point and that outposts and stations require literally millions-billions of tons of materials to function.
Adding to that all stations rely on trading to survive, even agricultural need imports like machinery and biowaste to remain functional, therefore moving more than 100Ly out doesn't make sense really. It's the same reason that remote islands, Antarctica and other places arn't full of religious nuts although I accept a few have found quite secluded locations... :p
There are some worlds with lights on the night side which may indicate planet based settlements where atmosphere exists. Could be interesting when expansions come.

Just my thoughts, again, all unofficial and unverified.

Oh wow - you must be from reddit or Facebook.
Emperor due to marry, his heir being a bit useless lead to speculation of another major player being the successor (Wiki quote: Harold, the current heir, quickly made a name for himself as a less playboy). Currently Aisling Duval is said to be the natural successor, however, Arissa claimed she was the Emperors illigitimate child and therefore the heir. If the marriage had/does take place then Arissa would theoretically have more of a claim than Aisling.

Emperor was sick, attempted assassination tracked by Arissa to HR 706 minor faction.

Patreus is said to be in an rumoured relationship with Aisling and opposed Arissa's attack on the HR 706 faction demanding evidence etc.
Has in the past opposed slavery similar to Aisling's principals yet used quite aggressive methods against anyone in debt to him.

Emperor has woken up from coma/sickness (14th July) yet has not yet been seen in public as far as we know. Expectations seem to be that the marriage will take place and a rift will occur with Aisling and Patreus on one side with Arissa and Zemina on the other. (Zemina Torval is a Senator like Patreus).

- Harold isn't "a bit usless" he's not even able to talk - think of him as Ozzy Osbourne after three more strokes.
- I only know one single person arguing for Aisling being the legitimate successor (a person that doesn't gave a clue about how succession lines work - can't blame him - he's Australian).
- Arissa didn't claim she was the emperors illegitimate child, the emperor stated it whilst announcing his intentions to legitimise her by marrying her mother.
- Patreus is in a relationship with Aisling - they were mentioned to be a couple numerous times on Galnet,
- Patreus never opposed slavery, although he perverts it by setting up neutral systems for being in debt and enslaving the population against their will, which is against the spirit of imperial slavery. Being an imperial slave is always a deliberate decision made be the slave to avoid puting shame on the families name.

Not surprised people are confused about FDs storytelling though - it doesn't make the slightest bit of sense after all...

Not been on reddit or facebook, just the wiki and galnet. All information I literally re-worded from the Wiki and galnet posts.

-Harold. Not read much more than the wiki page about him under the Empire lore section (apparently newsletter 52 mentions him) - http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Empire lore section

-Arissa wiki page http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/A_Lavigny-Duval:
"Declared that Prince Aristide Lavigny isn't her actual father, and that she is the illegitimate daughter of Hengist Duval. This puts her claim to the throne above Aisling Duval's.[2] "

(I may have got the wrong end of the stick and it was someone else that declared it not her doing it herself, again most of the information I used was paraphrased.)

- Probably right about the relationship, although as far as I remember it was never officially anounced, only that they were "seen together" at various establishments.

- End of slave sale in Durius. http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Denton_Patreus

Although yeah, Im a little confused on a few points I must admit :p

Well yes - however in Galnet, it was never mentioned by Arissa, but the Emperor himself. On a less related note, you contradict yourself here - in your previous post, you stated that Aisling would be the considered the "natural successor" - she's the illegitimate child of Harold, a disinherited lunatic and some random Junkie.
Now anyone in his right mind would suppose that even if Hengist wouldn't marry Arissa's mother, the emperors illegitimate daughter should have a higher claim than his disinherited braindead sons illgetimate daughter (who evidently is just as braindead as him).

They are constantly referred to as "the empires favourite power couple" - without any denial from either of them, it appears pretty legit.

Ah - I did fight in Durius conflict and hugely profited from the slave sale there. It's "Sale" as in "Discount" - it means the discount ended at some point - same as the Torval vs Aisling CG slave discount in Synteini ended at some point. He didn't stop slavery there - the spring sale just finished once summer arrived.

Ahh, I mixed up Aisling and Arissa, I wish they'd have picked better names instead of both A :p Thanks for that.

Yeah, like I say it was more a piece together from what I read on the wiki so thanks for the corrections/updates :)
I do agree with everyone that says there needs to be a 1:1 history section somewhere :p
