The Strangest Planet

Ok folks, post your fish stories. What's the strangest planet you ever found? "Strange" is defined by you, and likely mocked by your peers if not up to standards. Extra points will be awarded for photos.

I'll start you with a good one: A class-V gas giant that is so close to a neutron star that it has become a ball of intense white light; if you get close enough your entire HUD will white out.

Personally, my vote is for the Glowing Green Giants: some extremely rare life-bearing gas giants appear to have bioluminescent radioplankton, making them glow a vivid, fluorescent green colour.

I am trying to keep track of, and eventually visit, all the known Glowing Green and Glowing White giants. I was unaware of the Fleasi example; that brings my total of known GWGs to four. I only know of four GGGs (and one of them, the discoverer forgot to write down which system it was in), which makes them equally rare.

This one is my favourite GGG, in the Bleia Dryiae HF-W b35-1 system. It's nearly solid green, especially when viewed from over the poles:

Sapyx, if you don't mind, could you please share the names of the other systems with GGGs and GWGs? I only know of one GGG and 2 GWGs (well, 3 now).

As for a theory, I think it was meant to be a luminescent GG of some variety and its missing its surface texture.

I've been using this thread to keep track of the GGGs. Here are the four known:
- Blua Hypa HT-F d12-1226, about 14,500 LY away and 1500 LY West of Gagarin Gate.
- Bleia Dryiae HF-W b35-1, about 5000 LY from Sol, just past the Lagoon nebula enroute to Colonia. Probably the best-looking of the three I've been to.
- Col 285 Sector VU-M c8-1, at only a few hundred LY away from Sol it's barely outside the Bubble, but it's only got a tiny hint of green to it.
- Eol Prou KW-L c8-32, Colonia region, not too far from Jaques.

As for GWGs, I now have the following:
- Kyloall BF-A f2322, as noted above, perhaps the most famous, not far from Jaques on the Colonia-Sag A line. The only one I have visited to date; the other three are now on my agenda.
- Gru Phio EL-Y e21
- Wrupu CW-N E6-68
- Fleasi MS-U e2-301

I have just reported these on the Galactic Mapping megathread too.

and that green giant is really happy, those two dots at its pol look like two eyes and if you squint you can see a smile.
Its happy to see you

Wow!! I have never seen any planets like those. Then again, I don't pay attention to gas giants very much. Nice finds!

Currently at work so I don't have any system names or screenies atm. I am currently 18k~LY from Sol, currently focusing on 'interesting' black hole systems.

Two days ago I found a Class IV Gas Giant extremely close to a White Dwarf, so close that you could not fit another Gas Giant between them. Though, it was not puffed up like the one OP posted. Both were orbiting a Class G at roughly 10LS.

Last night I finally found a landable planet just 13LS from not one, but two black holes in a tight orbit (3LS apart)

I don't know how common they are, but I found a pink gas giant. Only ever saw one.

I also found a gas giant under 1 earth mass in size.
