The Thargoid Bobblehead

So, have you got yours yet? This is one that you cannot purchase. It requires 1 Thargoid heart and 10 meta-alloys. Turn them in at a Guardian technology broker and it will show up in the livery. No, it is not the retro Thargoid bobblehead in the store.

Meta-alloys are fairly easy to farm but that heart requires a kill with one of the big 4 Thargoid ships with the Cyclops being the easiest. If you never went up against one it is not all that easy. Meanwhile taking out Thargoid scouts to advance your combat Elite status doesn't count. No hearts there.

Nope, I don't have one either but it is buggin' me to take it on. I have a Krait Mk II Thargoid Scout hunter, all the Guardian large and a few medium fixed weapons and all 3 fighters. Easy to retrofit. Still I like some of the Alliance Thargoid builds. They are collecting dust in the home world hangar with something to do...while of course awaiting the Fleet Carriers (and a few bugs). I've been watching this video to come up to speed. It might help others.

So are you up to the challenge? It sure beats some players worrying about 400 Arx per week.

Yeah, got it on the first day it was available. Used a Krait Mk II with 3 medium Guardian gauss cannons, and 2 flak launchers. Had never killed an Interceptor before, but despite some rookie mistakes I did get it done on the first try.

Does the heart do damage to your cargo racks? Do you need one of those special cargo racks to hold it?
You know I didn't think about that and do not have an answer. I did unlock the corrosion resistant cargo rack so I'll add it to the build just in case. I didn't need it with the Thargoid scout hunter only carrying decontamination limpets. Thanks for pointing this out.

Outstanding! The video also suggested using two flak launchers until a new player gets up to speed using them.

Still a bobblehead doesn't seem enough. Perhaps a unique decal showing that you are a serious Thargoid hunter? It's an ego vanity thing many would love.

Very much so. Corrosive-resistant cargo racks are strongly recommended, as are decontamination limpets (which double as repair limpets) and an AFMU, since us rookie Interceptor-slayers do make mistakes and need to patch our ships up. :)

Took a lot more than an II or a CG to get those bad boys. 😏

Im just be8ng cheeky those are really cool and i dont have one. But my trophies are still the thargoid's knees

Yeah, I have one. Killing Cyclopes is fairly routine for me, though I havent's killed a Basilisk yet. Haven't been trying very hard. I'm pretty sure it was the Human tech trader, not the Guardian one.

T'would be awesome to have a cumulative thargoid heart count stamped right below the cockpit of your ship.

Which of the alliance ships do you think would be a good one for this task Hoop?
I was thinking Crusader. Gausses and flak.

I haven't really decided. I've found builds for all three Alliance ships with the Chieftain mostly used for Scout hunting. The Crusader seems more popular than the Challenger with 50t more hull. Then there are the Python, Anaconda, Corvette and Cutter builds. Interesting there are videos where the Crusader took out the target faster than the Cutter but I assume this is more about pilot skills and weapons selection.

Google "Canonn Group AX build" for lots of other examples.

I have a Krait Mk II Thargoid scout build which seems very popular since it was released. Easy enough to update with Gauss Cannons then go play. I only purchased two each of AX and Guardian weapons so off to purchase more for now. I stripped down my Krait for best jump range with the nearest dealer 250LY away from the Pleiades Sector.

Of course the bottom line for me is, "Just go do it!". :)

The Chieftain is the best option of allt he alliance ships for interceptor combat. It's powerful thrusters will let you do cold orbiting without boosting.
Good weapon convergence with 2 medium and 2 small gauss, 1 flak launcher and a small thermal vent beam laser.
Challenger also works, is a bit tankier and has one more medium hardpoint, so more dps.
Crusader is... trash. Too slow, inferiour manouverbility, fighter bay is useless.

One of my squadron mate killed one to help me got mine. I tried many times Thargoid hunting with different ships, I just not good enogh to kill one by myself.

Thanks for the advice Doc🚀. Live long and prosper!

I suck with fixed weapons, but sometimes I get lucky. Hull tanked Anaconda with four 3C Guardian Shard Cannons loaded with Premium ammo.
