After the whiplash response to Alpha backers getting into the Premium Beta phase first, Frontier Development has decided to change the way in which Premium Beta access is to be made.

On April 25th, all Alpha and Premium Beta backers will be randomly drawn into a Rock Paper Scissors competition. All backers that reach the last round of 16 will gain automatic entrance into Premium Beta on May 1st, while every one else will have to wait a further month for access.

The quarter final, semi final, and final of the Rock Paper Scissors competition will instead play the modified Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Spock rules to decide the overall winner who will receive a playable Federation Cruiser for when the game is released.

In a news leak prior to the release of Alpha 4 -Travelling and Trading, Frontier have confirmed that all members of the Dev team at Frontier have been given a space station in game and that these stations will be the locations during Alpha 4.

It is believed that Micheal Brookes's station orbits a french language planet, and is called 'Monsoon'.

The fact that they are going to implement space faring creatures that are native to space and need no space ships adds an interesting element. I wonder what their "skin" will be composed of?

Just announced by Micheal Brokes - "Alpha 4 will launch on May the 4th. As a tribute to Star Wars, which David Braben actually invented (unacknowledged) before writing Elite on his own, we will debut a new dynamic bobblehead featuring Luke Skywalker if you have a clean criminal status, and Han Solo if you have a bounty on your head. Future updates may feature a Jabba the Hutt mode if you enable your webcam and Frontier staff decide you're a munter. More will follow."
