Powerplay The Trans Galactic Slave Trade Corporation... Help by stepping down...

"The Trans Galactic Slave Trade Corporation"... This faction have suddenly appeared as a controlling faction for the system LTT 8517.

I have worked my ass off, over 20 hours, to make sure that a preferred faction according to Zemina Torvals fortification ethos (Dictatorship) was in charge there. And now you replaced this with a corporation?

"The Trans Galactic Slave Trade Corporation aims to use slaves for their most fundamental purpose the generation of profit. As such, the corporation seeks to create and maintain popular slave trade routes, with particular attention placed on routes between the territories of Archon Delaine and Zemina Torval. The corporation will use whatever means it deems necessary to ensure the flow of slaves continues unhindered."

It is a real true irony that your factions goal depends on the faction getting rid of itself. If you had any intention to boost Zemina Torval systems you should have enough brain to realize we do not want a corporation there because Zemina Torvals fortification ethos do not support corporations. You trashed that place. Now fix it.

We haven't trashed the place. We are helping it by purchasing Imperial Slaves, thereby helping boost the economy. Not that that was the original intention. We just wanted to make lots of money, but if we can help others while doing it, that's a nice bonus.

We won't step down and we will continue our operations there.

So Zemia Torval doesn't embrace the ethos of Corporations? But she will sit back and reap the rewards of being a high born citizen. Well, the majority of us aren't high born citizens. Some of us aren't citizens at all, of any power. We're just your average working schmoe trying to get ahead any way we can. We don't hide behind some altruistic "ethos". We do whatever it takes to make it in this big old dangerous galaxy. And the logic of your assertion about our faction's goal is getting rid of itself is beyond me. Perhaps you might want to explain that in a bit more detail. If anyone else understands it, then I must be dense.

So your request that we step down is hereby refused. And I don't consider it a friendly and polite request. He accused us of trashing the place. If buying what they are selling is trashing the place (a definition I don't agree with) then I guess he's correct. But since I don't agree with that definition, I don't consider it a polite and friendly request.

Oh, and just so you know, we don't care about boosting anything except our own credit balance. If we can help the economy in the process, great. If not, too bad. We won't lose any sleep over it either way.

I think the people in this thread are talking on 2 entirely different frequencies. You are talking in RP terms. The OP is talking in Powerplay and BGS terms.

The OP is talking in game terms and is referring to the BGS effects on Powerplay. Specifically that Torval's favored government types for fortification is not a corporation type government, but rather dictatorships, feudal, communist and co-operative type governments. By switching the government type of system from dictatorship to corporate, the Trans Galactic Slave Trade Corporation makes it harder for Torval to fortify the system, making it easier for the system to be undermined, go into turmoil, and be lost to Torval. If Torval loses the system, the Imperial Slaves are no longer 10% cheaper so profits on Imperial Slave trading and smuggling crash, which then hurts traders and also the members of the Trans Galactic Slave Trade Corporation if the goal is profit. So the OP is basically saying that ironically the best way for the Trans Galactic Slave Trade Corporation to preserve the profitable trade routes for its members and everyone else in that system is to let themselves be overthrown as the controlling faction for that system in favor of a dictatorship type government. *end translation*

Thank you. I don't involve myself in politics so I didn't understand how their being there could hurt. Some like to play the politics, I just want to make money and screw the politics, but unlike a lot of corporations, I don't look at just this quarter. I look at 5, 6, maybe 10 quarters down the line. If the Trans-Galactic Slave Trade Corporation being the ruling faction of that system hurts or has a potential to hurt those profits in the long term, then I will no longer support them and contribute to their cause in Torval controlled systems. Our goals (theirs and mine) march in step and therefore I support them, but I won't where it would hurt our profits.
