dude, how good is assetto eh?
it lacks the quality of ED though, no super sampling etc.

the g27 is fantastic! i had no idea how nice that wheel could be for the price.

i had to buy a new chair because i keep sliding back and its just too soft currently..

Assetto Corsa is very nice, but I would just love for it to support super sampling to get that extra clarity. I actually believe I`m a better driver with the dk2 as I can get a feel for the apex of a turn, breaking distance and whatnot. A good alternative is Live for speed. ED level of rift support (supersampling and working menues) though looks a bit dated. Easy to get a stable 75 fps though. Feels smooth.

After I got my dk2 I bought a new 980, a used g27, allready had a warthog flightstick and t16000 in a dual joystick setup for ED. Considering a ch throttle pro with pedals to go with the WH stick (its a dk2 driven need). I`m checking this forums and others for other ways to tweak the most out of the DK2. Strange thing is when I first booted up ED un-modded running at 1080p I thought it was the best thing ever. Then as I tried more and more of the tweaks shared here it has now raised the bar and feel now that I`m extremely sensitive to judder and image clarity/sharpness is the alpha and the omega. I tried to put my settings to what started out with (I could play for hours with those settings) and its like, really? I thought this was incredible?

Riva tuner is the reason I now have decided not to put any more money into performance enhancing hardware in ED/dk2 for the time being. Seeing my fps drop to 60 with 65% gpu utilisation and cpu nowhere taxed it seems there are other factors at play here besides raw computing power (which is to be expected I guess). I`m anxious to know how or to what degree asyncronous time-warp will lower hardware requirements.

Anyways, I`m now looking for a second hand stressless chair with good armrests that I can mod to fit joysticks and a rack for the g27. It`s starting to feel like a proper hobby now :).

Yeah Assetto Corsa was superb until the big update they did a few weeks ago, the sky and some of the scenery are now blinding white they really messed up with the settings even worse for SLI users

I had to manually alter the default ini file in the ppfilters folder just to be able to play the thing, but this makes the interior of the cars quite dark but fixes the White sky and scenery

So haven't put much time into recently, just plugging my way through Elite at the moment

karnath, i think you can cycle the HDR with pg up/pg down to fix that. or find a happy medium.

I fixed mine with sweet fx.

but seriously the game needs dsr dk2 support....why they never bothered to fix that is a mystery.

currently looking at chairs now, the only dxracer in stock is 399$...like do i need a 400$ chair???

problem being any chair that is under $250 doesnt have tilt lock and locking casters...important for ED and AC id think...

im building up the courage to ask my work to write off the chair for me...haha

I'm glad I'm not the only one... I split my time between two countries so it's everything x2 !
My only regret is that sli 980s still doesn't feel like enough!

I bought this game and found the whole blinding light thing a bit much although it wasn't an issue in the classic Lotus. Good game but nowhere near ED in VR quality IMHO.

What happens in VR stays in VR

There are far 'softer' costs........

Pictures of you wearing your DK2, together with an inane grin and grasping a HOTAS, posted on Facebook by your children...with commentary (most 'likes' were from male fraternity who wanted to try the rift and own it!)
Your partner continually taking the pish out of you..
The suddenly realisation that the three monitors in front of you will never be used to play a game again....
Shakers and Simvibe can play havoc with your piles.....
Impossible to convince anyone who hasn't actually tried it, that the immersion is just so good......

...I am sure there are other 'softer' costs..

...but that's it for now... :D

Nosh

March 2014: wife says we should get DK2 because it would make me happy (not that I wasn't happy)
September 2014: DK2 arrives! Fiddle around with it for a few hours and then let it gather dust because it sucks
December 2014: get GTX 970 for the rift, but still don't even take out the rift at all, anticipating further disappointment. Play The Crew
February 2014: wife says I should get Elite: Dangerous because it would make me happy (not that I wasn't happy)
February 2014-present: haven't played anything else except ED and rift. Spend about 50% of my waking hours in space. Wife actually approves for the most part.

Life is good :)

All in all, didn't spend TOO much, and spread out over a year so all is well on our end

Hilarious, I have very similar situation where she actually cares whether I am happy or not. Play that for all its worth, ha.

no kids yet i assume drkaii?? haha

honestly, the only time i get to tinker is after 10pm...i couldnt fathom playing computer games during the day on the weekends anymore :(
i really miss those weekend game sessions...

Yar ! September 14 ~ Dk2 Aussie $510
October 14 ~ 2 x Gigabyte 970 Aussie $1050
" Simvibe + 2 x Buttkicker Gamer2's +2 x BassShakers&amp Aussie $650

It all adds up quickly :D

I have not played Elite very much and finding it very difficult to get the hang of, especially how slow to make money.

But for Racing games the Dk2 is supreme, I have assetto corsa and Project Cars and AC is very plain however Project Cars is totally unbelievable how good in VR it is ... easily the best game by far in terms of VR followed by Elite.

Hopefully Berney over at Simexperience will add ELite to the Simvibe compatable games as it could be awesome with the added effects from bass shakers, buttkickers etc.
