Engineers The truth about Yttrium

Ever since engineers came out a lot of people have been searching for some Yttrium to upgrade their FSD drives. We traveled hundreds, sometimes thousands, of light years all over the galaxy for this elusive element. We scoured moons, planets, and tentacle monsters. Just for a few units of Yttrium. It turns out that we did not really have to do that. It turns out that Yttrium is not very expensive at all and is fairly easy to obtain.
Who came up with the idea of making us run all over the galaxy just for a few units of this stuff? [wacky][wacko]

$275 per kilogram

Is it funny or sad that, when I looked at that table, the first thing that sprang up in my mind was "I bet Scandium and Lutetium are mining-only, and can't be bought anywhere"

As I started reading your post, I thought "I love this guy", as im about to find out a solution to my Yttrium problem. And then I realized that you were just yanking my chain. Now I want to reach through the screen and strangle you..... Although one more upgrade and I think Polonium is going to be my next problem.[sour]

I'm quite surprised at the crazy price fluctuations in those minerals. There is some serious money to be made there (or lost).

Didnt mean to mislead anyone. Just trying to point out that in reality Yttrium is a relatively cheap and easily obtainable element right here on earth. We shouldnt be forced to travel hundreds of light years and scout planets for this stuff.[mad]

Everything on the list that isn't specialist manufactured would be easy to come by, Iron is a component, and Tin lol that famous amazing metal.

Arsenic is found in Rat Poison... it's like $3 at the hardware store.

But in Elite: Dangerous, requires a spaceship to even start searching for. I guess not everything in the future is better. Spaceships only cost $280,000, but rat poison is a valued rarity. ;)

When you stop finding it. Go open then solo to refresh the instance and resources around you.

You’re welcome.

I do wonder why people seem to have so much trouble to grasp the concept of Videogames not being like real Life. Its not exactly a new thing.

Just get it from the barnacle.. You get about 1 Yttrium every other spawn so in about 90 minutes I got 10.

I've just been playing the game, pretty much as I did in 2.0.

All I've done different is whenever I see a material I've not already got 10 of, I scoop it.

At some point I'll visit and Engineer and see what these can do for me, but right now I'm in no hurry.

If people spent as much time playing the game looking for polonium and yttrium as they do moaning in the forums about it, they'd have masses of it by now.
