Newcomer / Intro The ultimate Cobra Mk III loadout

What would be the ultimate Cobra Mk III load-out, regardless of cost?
That is for bounty hunting / pirate / pvp

Something like this?

Struggling with maximum power and mass.
For this first I'm able to make some wins by disabling cargo hatch, for the latter (mass) I'm not sure at what mass point I'm losing out on maximum speed.

(this thread is not so much about weapons load-out, more about there other fittings such as whether to take A sensors, or life support, that kind of thing)

Suggestion move Shield banks to size 2A or 2B, save on weight.
Why have Mirror armor? if you are without shields you are as good as dead. At this point you should be getting out of the line of fire. Armor on this ship only to make up for shields. Reinforced alloy seems enough to get your shield back.
Found that have an A does not mean it is as good, size 4 vs 5 does make a difference. Problem I found with this ship is the shields to not cover it fully even on A. One of the reason I moved to ASP.

Also giving your lasers rest on energy and fitting 1D/F Cannons works well and allows you to keep to continued fire.

P.S. this would also depend on what you are using ship for.

Most everything above is wrong.
Reflective armor is awesome, even against kinetic weapons. It has saved me a number of times.
Rated A systems are the best for the class, period.
All shields cover all ships, period.

As for the OP's question the only change I would make is to have guided missile launchers in the Class 1 slots, use them when waiting for lasers to recharge or if an enemy tries to tun when you are a few % away from a kill.

well... I guess it will work on paper.
However in 1.1 you will have some serious issues witrh it :)

There is going to be a problem with heat management due to having 4 lasers.
But the shield cell banks are being balanced a bit, and they now require a whole load more power. Having 2 of them, that will hurt you a lot.

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=109551 (for a bit more info on the current 1.1 beta and how lasers perform)
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=109161&p=1696553&viewfull=1#post1696553 (somme preliminary data on the power consumption of shield cells. Now they have about a 3 to 4 multiplier on them in regards to the live versions).

So if you say you are already struggling with power now, it will only get worse :)

You did OF COURSE see this:

And have found it to be correct in combat. Though this likely to change in 1.1.

The problem was "Struggling with maximum power and mass", armor and shield banks would be the compromise. Depending on what ship was being used for.

P.S. Dumb fire missiles nurfed 1.1.

That is the actual load-out I used for weeks. Very very tough ship, hard to kill and easy to fight with.
Nice, I see you are 81% over your original clean ship mass. I would love to have some indication at what point one is losing speed and maneuverability and need to cut weight. I know the ship is OK because the thrusters have a far bigger optimal mass, but I'd like to know by how much my speed is increased per drop of weight. Then I can outweigh the benefits of adding or losing components.

Two completely different things right there. You can only optimize for one or the other, which is it to be?
I added pirate to that equation because I want include a frame shift drive interdictor, something that can be seen as optional for bounty hunter. But the focus is bounty hunting, PvE and PVP.

I think an FSD Interdictor is a great tool for a Bounty Hunter too. Pirates need cargo space, Bounty Hunters can live without it.

I'm currently flying an ASP, with about 40mil fittings. It's a beast of a machine and I adore it.
But I've been flying an A fitted Cobra expecting less firepower but more maneuverability and speed, however it doesn't seem to offer benefits over my ASP, the latter has often a bad name but when fitted with top components it's deadly and quite agile for it's defense (A6 shield, A5 cell bank,...) and firepower.

This is the reason for my comments, as having found this out too. Having testing each config in combat.
Shield banks being a good example as in game they do not tell you how many banks you get, thankfully this information is at http://www.edshipyard.com.

You have to accept some compromise for a multi use ship, and from what I see there will be a few more dedicated fighters coming.

How does that chart translate to no full shield cover and A not best?

You dont loose speed, an A spec Cobra is one of the fastest at 480m/s in that config. With top rated thrusters same story.

More buttons to push, before the furball begins.

Looked at the 1.1 laser testing. Clearly, pulse lasers are going to be the winners over beams. Lots more weapons that use ammo, and do not generate as much heat are going to be used.

Gotta change my weapons loadout.

I think there's maybe no objective best... Even within a single profession it depends in what your attitude is to skinning that particular cat.

I do a bit of trading and a bit of bounty hunting, but recently more of the bounty hunting. Jump Distance has always been important to me so I've fitted out my Cobra with a wake scanner, KWS and an interdictor. Compared to you I have more D class modules but have A class power distributor and FSD and have beefed up armour and shield, but not all the way to A, so I have a 21Ly jump range.

Where you might have kitted your Cobra out so you can last longer in the fight and pick up more bounties, I've kitted mine so I can chase that one 150k bounty into the next system and possibly the one after that.
