General / Off-Topic The United Kingdom will join the United States, the France and the Russia to bombard daesh ?

The jury is still out on this question ..

Cameron has asked parliament to talk about this (yesterday) he believes UK should bomb but not send in troops because their presence "may be counter-productive". There's a strong argument I think to say USA, Russia, France is already enough bombs falling on a small area with few targets, and that a long term solution lies in supporting (moderate Sunni) opposition to Assad or in some way forcing Assad to hold democratic elections (best solution because it doesn't destroy government/institutions, which never get rebuilt after the bombs stop).

For me the UK would be better to stay out of the air war and focus on developing diplomatic pressures, cutting off funding to daesh etc. Eventually some sort of settlement will be needed or daesh will just regrow/rename itself, and UK can be a useful ally to the people dropping bombs because, if accused of a crusade against against Islam (bombing daesh positions), UK can say "we're not bombing".

One thing daesh has succeeded in doing (I agree) is putting USA and Russia on the same side, against islamic extremists. I don't know if this was their plan or not (daesh versus the whole world) but strategically speaking what a dumbass.

A few years ago we had a vote on whether to bomb Assads forces in support of ISIS (and everyone else fighting him).

Now we're going to have a vote on whether to bomb ISIS in support of Assads forces.

Our government is incredibly stupid and dangerous.
