The wait...

...is unbearable :(

So much so that I've reinstalled some ancient space sim games just to get a feel of my old joystick again (oh er!) and take my mind off ED & SC.

6 months to go...

Find some unpleasant stuff you always knew you have to do, but so far have avoided it. Deal with it. Pick another one. Deal with that one too. And you will be in February in no time. And then it's already beta and release (hopefully) close enough :)

I've waited a sequel of FFE for so many years ... 6 months is nothing :)
But I can understand you :D

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Right now I'm in a gaming lull, but soon I'll have more than I can handle with ED alpha, SC dogfighting, and Wasteland 2 beta this month. :) Just have to get through the next few weeks. Maybe I'll play more Skyrim, lol.

Heheh, I can really relate to everyone who posted here.

I reinstalled Independence War 2 (I've prolly annoyed everyone with that :/ ),and made sure my Elite captain in First Encounter is alive and well in the (I'm not kidding) 4 different safe-repositories. :p
Hey he deserves that care after all the man-hours I put in ...him... Ohgod that sounds bad, ain't it?

Anyway, As Izzy said, 6 months are nothing next to the YEARS it took to reach this moment. And I'm so glad.

This was the time.

I'm ready.

And in the mean time I've put meself in those tasks wife always told me to but I never could. Painting the kitchen shelf, the red wall in the living room, finish the wall decorations in the bedroom and I'm even thinking about the enamel on the night tables.

...

Do you guys think is time to ask her if I can put some more Ka-ching in the pledge and get the kickstarter Special?

:p

I'm afraid she KNOWS I'm just doing all that for that reason.

I've found I needed to take a break from the forums a bit. I've been too engrossed and focussed on reading almost every post on these forums, reading and rereading newsletters and dev diarys. Some Fridays they release so much new content that I spend half the day crawling over the info and reading comments on them. And worst of all, I can't explain why I do that. I'm excited, sure. But I didn't think I'd become this .... addicted?

Hehe, anyway, I decommissioned my (old) gaming desktop earlier in the year. So to try and get off the forums I've lately started up reading some good old sci fi books that have been lying around for ages vying for my attention, and trying not to think about ED for a while.

But just because it is a very sociable and friendly place where people speak the same points of interest. So this can only make us "addicted". Sometimes I wonder if Elite Dangerous and the galaxy is not a way to separate us from the terrestrial attraction and all the daily constraints that come with it. This place is a invitation to freedom

I think I am going to buy X Rebirth just to quench my sci fi thirst until ED is released. Just ordered myself a new pc to. So that I am upgraded for the game :)

The wait is pretty brutal to be honest, especially not seeing any real gameplay footage to keep me going. Also I've upgraded from a laptop to a desktop which makes the wait even bloody longer.

Sure hope they meet their deadline of March, though I'm not holding out much hope...

Like the wait for a Duke Nukem Sequel.

You could always go and play some Pioneer, it's not the greatest game compared to Frontier, but it's every bit as beautiful.

I wonder if anyone would mind if they delayed the game release for some polish or bug swatting.

Also, it's very exciting to think we're in for so many treats in the near future. I remember seeing the Domacles video for the first time and not believing my eyes. I literally had to pinch myself.

I find I have more games available than time to play them.

At the moment, I'm scratching the surface of Rome II, dabbling in Sim City, beta testing Godus and War for the Overworld. Space Hulk gets play time and so does Lord of the Rings Online and I still plan to finish projects in Mac Trainz.

Still have my beady eyes on a certain date for Elite Dangerous though.

I've been building Ikea furniture to pass the time. I have built two chests of drawers and I've only lost 1 pint of blood and cried 5 times so far! :)

Beta testing Godus has taken up a fair bit of time but yes the wait is a killer. The waiting got worse after seeing the "Damocles" video for some reason.....

Why have you moved to Egypt????? Denial = The Nile get it....I've embarrassed myself with that joke.

Simple solution, get yourself immersed in the Elite universe that exists already, either by running one of the Elite games under emulator, or better, run Oolite!
