The whole shebang just makes me sad

Im not whining, but you can call it what you want - This game version - 2.2, I waited for for a good long while, and I cant even believe what I'm seeing here. I want a game thats fun and exciting and challenging - but NOT in a MOST RIDICULOUS way. SERIOUSLY PEOPLE: DEVELOPERS, give me a break. you seriously just took 95% of the fun out of this game. let me explain: after looking in about 30 stations, i finally find a passenger cabin, but i have to sacrifice a big cargo module for it, only to find that after taking this guy, my very first passenger on a 5 hour tour, I didnt properly even scan the beacon - apearantly I was supposed to. WHERE ARE THE MANUALS TELLING HOW TO DO THIS? I HAVE TO LOOK AROUND ON GOOGLE FOR 2 HOURS JUST TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIND AND USE THE PASSENGERS CABINS!!!!! I feel honestly like Ive been stolen from. or pushed into a wall at the playground, like "how you like them apples?" Look - I used to be okey with getting on here for several days in a row and mabey making 2-3 million, but HOLY crap MAN, this is ridiculous! all the way to the BANK! I just played for around 8 hours and managed to make just a little over 150,000. because the first trip ended with the person threatening to eject if i didnt drop them off at the nearest station, because I didnt know I WAS SUPPOSED TO SCAN A BEACON, MY BAD! So the very next mission, Im out looking around in the black of space - flying this way and that all over the place for a star base that i can never find ---- THEN THE GUY ON MY SHIP IS WANTED AND THEY START SHOOTING ME AND BLOW UP MY SHIP.................* having to pay 3 times what i just spent 2 days making just to get my ship back. Then I go back to a place where I had some luck with the market, and I cant even get the stations to let me dock, 3 stations in a row had 0- zero, zilch - under contact.-----I ended my game sitting out in front of the station, like a kid who goes home only to find his parents have moved out and the house is burnt down. i HAVE SERIOUSLY HAD IT . I USED TO LOVE THIS GAME BEFORE ALL THE BULL GOT ADDED TO IT. now I will say, it sounds good on paper, it sounds good in the newsletters, it looks neato in the screenshots, and the neato videos......but it SUCKS to PLAY IT NOW!! why not just take away all the money in the game, because its so little, after playing for 6 weeks is gonna equal 2 days worth, before it got ruined. I love this game and thats why I'm so mad. so say what you will, better yet, if everyone would petition to make some drastic changes - MABEY WE WOULD STAND A CHANCE, .....BEFORE THEY DO SOMETHING ELSE, MORE, THAT BLOWS IT UP COMPLETELY.
I SERIOUSLY (((HOPE)))) someone does something somewhere to make this worth playing again, because right now, I'M DONE. And sadly enough this ended my reason to go get a Rift. I dont even want it now....The whole shebang just makes me sad....[knocked out]

Your first clue might have been when the mission didn't update. Seemed obvious to me when I tried it.
You also might want to read mission descriptions. It will tell you if the passenger will attract hostiles.

Station won't let you dock? I assume you mean a small station which probably had occupied landing pads.

Nothing wrong with the game. Just what you are doing.

My experience was different, I chose not to look up anything though:
- flew to a station in another system I knew always had great outfitting
- fitted cabins
- fitted a discovery scanner and a surface scanner because sometimes I get missions in which the first one is necessary and the second one saves time (not passenger ones)
- I don't know if they are needed for passenger missions but just saying what I did.
- flew to a station in another system I was allied with everyone that always gave great missions in 2.1 and earlier
- picked up a mission for $5.7m that took 35 minutes
- I noticed some missions paid very little and had a high difficulty level eg criminal mastermind
- so just like choosing other things in the game like a hazres or a conflict zone, murder mission etc I chose initially the easiest one with the highest payout and shortest distance to start with and only one rather than stacking. So I chose the mission carefully.
- In the mission the passenger asked for where to go in the left hand screens - both comms and transaction ones
- I noticed it said a planet name and then visitor beacon
- so I flew to the planet and looked in the navigation tab for the beacon, which I found
- I noticed nothing was happening so I dropped out of sc and scanned it
- passenger told me where to go next.
- successfully made the $5.7m
- did the whole thing slowly and carefully other than jumping because there was text about passengers can get upset etc
- was concerned when I dropped out of sc as too close too a star it would affect the happiness of the customer but I had chosen one where he didn't mind being late or anything other than hull damage. So when interdicted in my Orca I ran.
- also chose Orca because of speed and it has DD3 plus FSD distance 5.
- I plan to try more difficult ones incrementally
- for some people my conservative approach might be boring but I like roleplaying a character with some characteristics like myself :)

I'm slightly annoyed it took me 6 hours of messing around to outfit and engine my beluga to 30 ly.

Wait...I'm actually fine with that and happy with my engineers mods. Although the 140ish rolls to upgrade my access from l4 to l5 was a little .

Why not just collect the level 2,3 and 4 rolls to do that instead? Seems way easier to me - you get the flow on effect of those mats being useful for other blueprints as well.

I use the level 1 stuff for level 2 rolls or for spamming grade 1 rolls to get a lower heat or something like that for my hammers etc

Takes about 30 rolls max to do that.

Exactly. THis method takes maybe 10 minutes. I can't understand why people waste their time and massive amounts of material on lvl 1 mods. Horrendously inefficient.

Why did I do that?

Because I already had over 150 peice of iron, sulphur and carbon.

I didn't have the materials to gather for all the levels.

I collected what I needed to the lvl 5 mod I wanted.

The grind to level up the engineers is silly.

Imagine doing that without grinding, because sure grinding sucks. It would take over 30-130ish visits to felicity to get just one level up. How many different ships we get 30? 32?

So I'd have to fit and refit all of those ships around 5 times each.

You cannot reach lvl 5 without some sort of pointless grind.

Disagree with the concept, fine. Telling people "this game is not for you" is obnoxious, narcissistic entitled crap of the highest order. Frontier want to encourage more to play, not more to leave.

Let's face it, games like Elite are a niche market, and not everyone's going to enjoy it.

That said, he obviously wants to enjoy it, and now that Frontier have reworked the tutorials it might be a good time to give them another try.

The beacons are listed in the tourist sites in the mission text by name. Passengers with a wanted status show in the passenger traits in the mission text.

If you didn't bother to read the mission text, what good is a manual going to do you?

Yes, this is why we need extra ways to gain rank with *all* of the engineers in the game. Faction Rep, Super Power Rank, missions and bringing them stuff.....all of that should boost rank more than getting upgrades done.

Waits for penny to drop.....

What penny? I'm agreeing with you that using crafting as a primary means of ranking up is a bit bonkers. More diversity is good IMHO.

You have me confused with someone else, it's not bonkers for me, I am loving it.

The penny is about the activities you mention broadly all use missions. I can get maybe 78 out of 86 items I needed for the blueprints I like from missions.

Same effectively :) (if memory serves me correctly, takes a bit from a capsicum and laughs maniacally)

edit - I think I just realised you are probably talking about those 8 items! (eek! runs and hides)

I just think I like having multiple paths to the same outcome.

Ah, I think the penny dropped for me now. :)

I don't do SRV settlement raiding so I see what you mean as otherwise those upgrades that 100% depend on only that activity would be lost to me.
