The witch head nebular; What a fantastic experience!

I've just been lead out to the witch head nebular by the gameplay, in search of an engineer. What an amazing experience and realisation, that the nebular is there for real and not just as a background image that never appears, watching it grow as you jump towards it is quite an amazing experience. Certainly wakes the explorer within me to keep exploration as a major goal.

I just wanted to say, well done devs! I really enjoyed this experience, it was ultimately very memorable, as are many experiences in this game!

Now then, I better think about equipping my explorer with advanced multi cannons, it seems that the normal striped down guns may not cut it out there in the black.

The only gun you need in the black CMDR! :)

I think you summed up perfectly what many of us felt the first time we traveled to Chloe Sedesi.

Like others have said, you don't need weapons at all out there in the black. Once you're clear of the Human and Thargoid bubbles, there is nothing more to shoot at, and nothing more to threaten you. A weapon is just dead weight on an exploration vessel.

With one small exception: If you ever want to explore all the Guardian stuff, and to collect Guardian materials along the way (e.g. to unlock Guardian fighters), you'll need a laser to activate the Guardian Beacons. The tiniest weakest one will suffice.

I don't really know why you would need weapons out there...
I was hyperspace interdicted whilst having a look around by thargoids, I don't go anywhere without some means of defence as I enjoy the sport of pirate popping whenever I get the opportunity on my adventures.

I like to keep in mind the possibility, however unlikely, that I might run into something that requires some resistance and as all my weapons are light weight and very low energy, it's not so much bother to have them on board. I've still got 70ly range without using neutron stars, which seems pretty good. There is a point beyond which shearing weight really does have diminishing returns. They do add a lot of weight to my adventurer theme in my role play.

This way I can use the same ship in the bubble, and still fight back if any pirates are looking to spoil my day. NPC's of course, these guns would be like a mosquito bite to either a shield or a hull tanked ship; One those mindless builds that seem to occupy so much of civilised space.

Witch head is goid territory..
Normal weps are useless
Indeed! Kind of sparks my interest to get back out there and do some exploring about that region and I'm intrigued to do something other than running away from the interdicting menaces. I figured that I could replace my guns with AX weapons and still have pretty much the same build. I'm a little disappointed that you can't get advanced multi canons in c3 though, if the advanced canons are the anti thargoid or AX weapons.

That's fine, I just thought you meant 5000+ lys away from home. There are no pirates deep in the black, hence my comment.
