FDEV may want to consider adding some more theatrical/movie perspectives into the free cam. In example a physics sensitive chase cam, or maybe a turret cam that halos the ship aimed at the ships current target/hostile ship on the far side of the players ship.
Better yet, a freecam preset that auto rotated between these camera angles on long trips. Right now, those 5-20K hikes are just wasted space, staring at a dot. They could be significant player experiences and marketing opportunities.
The free cam angles seem to be made for taking stills of pilots, which has limited utility and incentive. These additional angles would give the players the routine reward of seeing their and their friends ships. This is hugely important, psychologically, for a game that makes its revenue selling skins and body kits.
People got sick of cover shooters, but I think they didn’t realize the point of cover shooting wasn’t taking cover, it was getting to see your guy in third person for a second.
The free cam angles seem to be made for taking stills of pilots. I spend a lot of time jn taxis or riding along with other people and I usually pass the time by watching the free cam just so I don’t burn the cockpit into my OlEd. This also gives me some vague sense of what’s going on, where we are in the trip, and ‘oh Jeez we almost hit that!’ I do the same thing when using the auto lander.
