Themes are something that at least a few are quite desperate for (I'm not sure that it's a strong desire here, but it seems to have a small following on the subreddit). This post is more like a compilation of ideas, so most of it will be stuff you've seen before, by myself and other people.
There are three main themes that I think might work, that can't really be done by the Planet series:

- Ica stones
- Amber
- Polar temperate forest
Ica stones
(every single one is fake, but the pseudo ancient art styles are interesting. The rocks are Andesite, covered in a soft film by weathering or cow dung.)
Amber
(we all know the amber from the movies, but in reality it can contain much more than mosquitos and be in a variety of different opacities and colours)
Polar temperate forests
(one of the distinguishing features from modern temperate forest is the 3 months of darkness)

Insect house - Amber theme
I wouldn't really expect much from this, considering insects from amber are probably too small to really see in game, maybe just changes to the exhibit plaques when changing amber source.
Nocturnal house - Polar theme
I'm not sure if animations for buildings can be changed out when switching between upgrades, so I've chosen similarly sized variations for the two locales.

These are amber source plants.
Polar theme
First is found in Australian Eumeralla formation, the last two are not found in Alaska's Prince creek formation, but are found in the similar aged Koryak formation of close by Russia.
