Theoretical Next Ships - Which Would You Rather?

Apologies if this has been speculated upon before, but with all the debate about what a Vulture and FDL may or may not be capable of, with much hot discussion around their most powerful weapons, it makes me wonder:

If there was a theoretical new upcoming ship, would you rather have something along the lines of a Python/Anaconda, where it has a few weapons of extreme magnitude? Or, say, a fighter which could mount a 'nest' of many weapons of a relatively low class (and sufficient power to have all simultaneously firing at the same time)?

Do you prefer inflicting 'death from a thousand cuts' or a singular, strong spearhead?

A Broadside Anaconda which I would fit with a dozen cannons, just cannons everywhere.

I would fly sideways-on to my enemies and blast them all to bits.

Also, FD already have quite a few ships they need to implement to put ED back in place with it's lore and the previous games.

;Before FD should intorduce more ships i would like to have NPC multi crew for existing ones, beside i look forward Constrictor :)

I'd like to go for massive overkill. An Anaconda-sized dedicated warship with at least two class 4s in addition to multiple 3s and 2s. An absolute murderbeast of a ship with a bare handful of utility slots for a shield, a shield generator and not much else, maybe an interdictor, less potential trade space than a type 7.

Indeed, but all of them are going to be undergoing consideration for more modernised outfitting. Frontier have to decide how many of which types of weapon hardpoints should be allocated to each. Doesn't matter if it's an entirely new ship or a reintroduction of an old one, really. My question was more in regards to weapons type and placement: Would you prefer a small number of hugely powerful weapons or a large number of less capable weapons, like ten or more in the class 1 range?

The more I play of this game, the more I'm forced to make myself consider what the purpose of crews could be, aside from one person taking over if the other needs a toilet break. :) If it's going to be for an introduction of manned turrets or something like that, then great (although, I'd expect automated ones would have much greater accuracy). But if you're going to crew up two or three people in a Cobra, what would there be for the other person to do? Energy management? Doesn't sound like that would be worth it! I'd like for that option to exist, I just don't know what there would be to do for your 'co-pilot'. Navigation plotting is already fairly simple and automated. They'd just sort of be sitting there, getting fairly bored.

A long range/fast in-system explorer. 50 LY jump range, 32T tank and just enough slots for exploring essentials and utilities for a heatsink or two. Doesn't need weapons, just speed and range. No need for it to multitask at anything else just like the dedicated short range combat ships. It could be fairly luxurious too for the away from home amenities.

I still want the Harris... but mostly, I want a different stepping stone than the Cobra. I'm sill in my viper, I could buy the Cobra, but when I did, I just didn't like it. Unfortunately, to go up in the world to an Asp say, it seems like it must be flown - all routes lead through Cobra, and that just makes me want an alternative even more.

So yeah, next block of ships, for me, must be things in the Viper->Asp range, allowing me to not have to fly the Cobra :)

Panther clipper :)

This, 1000 times this!

Just look at it:

I would like to see some more original ships after the initial 30 complete, with their own in game background stories.

Any ships that can help fill the gap between the Cobra and Python would be great.

Also if ships like the Anaconda and Fed Corvette (once it's in) have their hangars functional, I'd love to see the F63 Condor!

I'd like to see something smaller than the Python.....next to zero cargo hold but at least more firepower than the Python and handling better than the Python pre-nerf did. A real killer in a battle, BUT make its cost high so you have to work for it. There are three statuses and one is trading. Make a good reward for the people who do it like the Python used to be. I badly want a bad ass heavy fighter, just make it expensive and good for nothing else.

Op, to answer your question; I generally have more fun in my small to medium size ships than my bigger ones.

I would want some more ships in these classes from the previous Elite's next. I know we have the Vulture coming live soon, but more is needed.

Smaller ships with specific advantages and disadvantages is my hope.

Couple that with a greater range of weapons and you've got yourself a party.

Dare I float the idea of a specific ship having its own dedicated weapon that can't be removed and put into another ship? Might be interesting.
