Theory Time

So most have seen the NHSS' by now as well as the supposed abductions of escape pods from the wreckage.

What if these thargoids are a different "clan" if you will. What if they are investigating the same as you and actually rescuing the pods.

Wouldn't it make sense because they aren't immediately hostile towards you and only seem to attack when provoked? It also seems that they don't chase you very far if you run.

These might be the good bugs saving people from a common enemy, maybe even the guardians.

I say we hold fire until we can find out what they are and want.

I agree.

I will always try to scoop escape pods before the Thargoids do, because i think noone deserves the horrors of being abducted by aliens, even if the people are returned unharmed.
But i don't accuse the Thargoids of anything, unless i have proof.
Based on this, my approach will be respect- and peaceful. I will not fire a single shot unless being fired upon and i will try to prevent harm in any way.

So do you figure their stations got a search and rescue contact after the update?

Maybe that's why we haven't seen them until now, they had no where to turn our bodies in for legit credits.

I approve this thread.. lol

From the first day we discovered a Barnacle, till now, i haven't fired a single shot on anything Alien related. Not even for Meta Alloys.. Never shot a UA for fragments as well.

I am going to keep it that way. Till we know for sure, what they are, why they are here, everybody should stop shooting at them..

But if you did that, that means you didn't have the fragements to unlock Palin's invite which means you don't have the dirty drives 5 upgrade that just ... just makes ships lovely to pilot... especially if they normally suck at turning...

That is the only tempting reason, but i will continue to resist. I have access to Palins equipment and that is enough. Some corossion resistant cargo racks really help these days. Hopefully, he will construct some larger versions soon.

i have 2 theories, one about what was going on before 2.4 and the other is about what is happening right now, so here they to crack pot theories that might be crazy enough to be true.

Theory 1: before the true Thargoids entered human space, the alliance with the backing of a shadowy organisation (i will call the dynasty group) decided to use a recovered Thargoid interceptor and so the seeds of panic around the bubble. reason for this was the immanent arrival of the thargoids and to prepare the galaxy for possible invasion and evacuation of the bubble, but due to the failure of the exodus project and no real back up plan it was to little to late and now we are in stalemate war with the thargoids.

Theory 2: The Thargoids i believe are 2 to distinct factions, 1 faction is just passing through on a migration through the galaxy picking up supplies from various barnacle sites then moving on, this faction occasionally pick up cargo or escape pods but only attacks when provoked. the second faction is basically hunting anything that moves and stripping combat zones of anything and everything human and thargoid related with no real agenda.

so that is my 2 cents worth, i hope to god i am right about the second one, but if the first one is true then what else has the alliance got stashed away, a true human/thargoid hybrid ship called...

Type 10: Defender

and they are getting the technology to arm or build more ships to make a fleet with. any way thanks for listening and i am sorry for the wall of text

You can find the fragments lying around near a alien crashed ship. (can't remember in what system, sorry)

Yes, I can't see Thargoids lining up at Obsidian Orbital to return those poor souls.

Crackpot theory -

The Oreserians (spelling probably not correct) are attempting to uplift our technology to a point where we can be more effective meat shields to cover their retreat.

To do this we're being allowed to pick off expendable vessels and test our new toys on them. For the same reason, we're being battered in combat, but not completely annihilated (and lets face it, with the damage output we've seen when they choose to really fight, they've got to be pulling their punches), so that we can work on our defenses as well.

Remember the Shadows of Babylon 5. They would use combat as a means of testing the smaller races so is that only the strongest would be allowed to survive. Perhaps the thargoids are testing us, see how quick we can adapt and what we are prepared to do to win
