THERE HAS TO BE A WAY TO RECOVER EXPORATION DATAS!!!

🤔 You should go post on one of the threads where people are calling for 'more risks for explorers' - they need some balance.

(Sorry for your loss, it'll sting less next time - o7)
Well there is a risk, however I do agree with op in this case, if you go boom before handing over the exploration data there should be a way to track the data box and get it back, if you were attacked by a pirate he or she may have it and you need to defeat hence pirate to get it back, or if it was not collected you could go back and scoop it up.

Oh, that's an interesting idea. Maybe when you respawn you could have a mission to "Get revenge on pirate that destroyed your ship" so you would be able to chase them down and recover some/all(?) of your data.

Or depending on the circumstances of your previous life's demise it could be "recover black box from system XYZ", "Scavenge the remains of <your ship name> on planet ABC"

Yes, same mechanic is in DayZ if you get killed your stuff is still there, however someone else may have it and you could take it back, or it’s just on your dead body and you need to get it before it’s despawned

THERE HAS TO BE A WAY TO TURN OFF MY CAPS LOCK!

Found it! :D

As an avid explorer, the thrill for me is not losing data by messing up a landing with no shields, resisting the temptation to buzz asteroids in a ring system, or try to make it between stars in close proximity to each other in SC, while avoiding the self-destruct button when I start to go stir crazy.

And the problem there is no one's definition of fun is identical. If your idea of fun and FD's idea of fun don't align the solution seems obvious.
