"There's the ship with all that tasty cargo"...

...says the un-shielded Mostly Harmless Viper as he begins to interdict my Cutter.

Seriously?

Any NPCs spawned from a "Hostile ships may be set..." mission need to scale better with the players rank/ship.

The current ranking of missions needs an overhaul. Even just "Below Level/On Level/Above Level" with scaled difficulty and rewards would be better.

High Level missions should be hard. There should be wings of NPCs coming after you. Get pulled out of super-cruise and seconds later you are surrounded and have to decide to run or not.

Last time I heard those words, I had no cargo or even a cargo rack...was quite funny at the time but maybe one had to be there to appreciate the irony ^

I haven't had that yet, most pirates that attack me in my Anaconda are bigger stuff, FAS and above.

I'm running lots of Federation missions for Rank. Sometimes low ranking missions are all that's on the board. That's where they are coming from, always a "Mission Target".

How these factions ever convinced a pilot that a viper v cutter was a good idea I'll never understand.

I still get them, they are a bit like houseflys, damn annoying and difficult to hit in a cutter unless you have turrets. Mmmm turrets.

On the way back from the Pleiades with 2 UAs, trying to get hyperdicted, a random NPC hauler interdicts me, and asks for my "juicy haul". My DBX wasn't armed, so vaporising him want an option.
I thought about giving him my highly corrosive cargo, just to see what would happen. But then I'd have to go and get my UAs to keep trying to get hyperdicted... So I just left him behind and continued on my trip.
Turns out I didn't get hyperdicted (yet again), so I should have just given him the cargo and hopefully laughed as he had major system failure. :p

I only get interdicted if I choose to.

When you have 20 missions on every trip, you get a lot of interdiction attempts, usually in series. I had 3 or 4 in a row yesterday. You barely come out of one and the other begins. The ships disappear from the sensors when the interdiction fails.

These interdictions are really crazy - crazy unbalanced. In former days when I was still ranked "master" and "dangerous" and was flying an ungineered Asp X or Python nearly every NPC sent against me was "deadly" or even "elite" and sporting something like a FDL, FGS or even an Anaconda. No chance to withstand, only running away was an option. Things went a little bit smoother once I bought "Horizons" and was able to start engineering my ships.

Once I became "elite" myself and was sitting in a fully engineered Corvette, the standard interdicting NPC now is a "mostly harmless" Viper Mark IV or even worse a "novice" Eagle.

It's really more than crazy.

By rights this would count as a bug really, imo and although you might not be horribly surprised if lower ranking ships dare interdict you by the time you're elite, really these should be in wings? Perhaps that's what's intended but the code is bugged? (I don't know for sure).

Maybe interdiction code is sending one level higher than a cmdr is,but they forgot to plug it at elite.
Just a shortened example : harmless---competent---deadly---elite---harmless ?

Recently had an Eagle interdict my Corvette. Poor thing... I stopped and turned to face him, bring my guns to bare, hoping he might just realized he was outclassed and outgunned, but the little thing was so close when I flipped around I smacked it with the nose of my ship, and popped his shields. When I boosted to give him a little push out of my way, his hull went pop too.

Easiest, cheapest 8k bounty of the day.
